💙 ADOPTION UPDATE — RANDALL! 💙

Randall has officially landed in his forever home, and we couldn’t be happier! 🏡🐾

Even better? He’s joining a family who already adopted from Howling Hideaway Rescue, so he’ll have a fellow rescue pup by his side! 🐶❤️ Randall is sure to love having a forever brother to share all the adventures, snuggles, and fun with.

There’s something extra special about seeing our rescue dogs welcome another rescue into their family. Thank you for opening your hearts and home to Randall, too! 💕

October 11, 2023 — the day two people decided they wanted to make a difference for animals in need. ❤️🐾

It had been just three weeks since they found a dog dumped in a ditch — a heartbreaking discovery that would change everything.

Not long after, four of her puppies were also found dumped in a ditch.

Five innocent lives.
Abandoned.
Forgotten.
Left to fend for themselves.

Five lives that deserved so much better.

Faced with the cruelty and heartbreak that too many animals experience, two people decided they couldn't simply stand by and hope things would change.

They wanted to be part of that change.

And so, the journey began.
A journey filled with heartbreak, sleepless nights, vet bills, endless dedication, happy endings, and far too many stories that never should have happened in the first place.
But above all, it became a journey of hope.
A promise to keep showing up for the animals who have no voice.
To give them a chance at a better life.
To remind them that not all humans will let them down.

Three years later, Howling Hideaway Rescue is so much more than those two people could have ever imagined.
What started with just a few volunteers and a handful of supporters has grown into an incredible community of animal lovers, all sharing one common goal — making a difference in the lives of animals in need.

And over these three years, more than 500 dogs and cats have found their second chance. 🐾❤️

More than 500 lives that were given a chance to heal.

More than 500 stories rewritten.

More than 500 animals who are now loved, safe, and exactly where they belong.

Along the way, there have been animals who needed medical care, some who needed time to heal, some who needed to learn how to trust again, and some who simply needed someone to believe they were worth saving.

And every single one mattered.

But none of this would be possible without the incredible people who stand behind these animals.

Our fosters are the heart of Howling Hideaway Rescue. ❤️

They open their homes to animals who may be scared, confused, sick, injured, or simply unsure of what it means to be loved. They give them patience, safety, structure, compassion, and the opportunity to heal.
They give these animals a place to learn how to trust.
They give them a safe place to become the dogs and cats they were always meant to be.
And then, as difficult as it can be, they open their hearts and let them go to their forever homes.

We truly could not do what we do without our foster families.

To every foster who has welcomed a critter into your home — thank you. Thank you for every sleepless night, every accident cleaned up, every vet appointment, every training session, every worry, every tear, and every happy moment.
You are giving these animals something they may have never had before: a chance.

And to our amazing volunteers — thank you for everything you do behind the scenes and in the trenches.

From transporting animals and helping with vet appointments to answering messages, organizing, fundraising, sharing posts, helping with events, providing supplies, and doing all the countless things that often go unseen — you are an incredibly important part of this rescue.

Your time is priceless, and we are so incredibly grateful for every minute you give.

We also want to recognize and say a very special thank you to Athens Veterinary Services. 🐾❤️

We are incredibly grateful to have such an amazing veterinary team helping care for our critters.
From routine veterinary care to emergencies, surgeries, medical treatments, vaccinations, spays and neuters, and everything in between, Athens Veterinary Services has been there to help us give these animals the care they deserve.
Having a veterinary clinic that understands rescue, supports what we do, and helps us care for animals who sometimes arrive needing so much is something we never take for granted.
Thank you for helping us help them. ❤️

Every foster home that opened its doors.

Every volunteer who gave their time.

Every donor who helped pay a vet bill.

Every person who shared a post.

Every adopter who opened their heart.

Every veterinary professional who helped heal them.

Every person who cheered from the sidelines.

You have all been part of their story.

As a non-profit rescue, every dollar we receive goes back into the animals. Every donation helps provide veterinary care, medications, food, supplies, transportation, rehabilitation, and everything else needed to give these animals the second chance they deserve.

We don't do this for profit.

We pour every cent back into the animals.
To our fosters, volunteers, donors, adopters, supporters, veterinary partners, and everyone who has believed in Howling Hideaway Rescue — thank you.

Thank you for standing beside us.
Thank you for opening your homes.
Thank you for opening your hearts.
Thank you for giving your time.
Thank you for helping us keep saying yes.

We may have started with just a few people, but together we have created a community that continues to grow and make a difference — one paw at a time. ❤️🐾

Three years ago, we started with a simple belief: these animals deserved better.
Today, more than 500 second chances later, we know that belief was just the beginning.

We can't change their past, but we can rewrite their future. ❤️🐾

🎉🐾 Happy 3rd Anniversary, Howling Hideaway Rescue! 🐾🎉

Here's to every life we've saved, every life still waiting, and every person who helps make the next second chance possible.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for being part of the Howling Hideaway family. ❤️

Kudos to Courtney Bright for making this video and Megan Khan-Grundy for creating the music 🎶 ❤️

🐾❤️ FOSTER SPOTLIGHT: COLLEEN & FAMILY ❤️🐾

Today we want to shine the spotlight on Colleen and her family, an incredible foster family who continues to open their home and hearts to dogs in need. 🏡🐶

When we asked Colleen what fostering means to her, her answer says it all:

*"Fostering has to be one of the most rewarding experiences for me. We are these animals' voices and their bridge to a second chance.*

*It isn’t always snuggles and happy times (although there are many of those moments), but there is nothing quite like the feeling of helping a rescue overcome a huge hurdle — whether that's healing from an illness, recovering from surgery, working through tough behaviours, or simply teaching them how to be a dog.*

*Showing them love and safety and watching the exact moment they drop their guard and learn to trust again is hands down the best part.*

*Fostering has been beneficial for my own dogs as well. They meet different dogs, make new friends, and help build their social skills.*

*If you're thinking about fostering, go in with patience and lots of love. Many (not all) of these animals come with baggage; their entire worlds have just been turned upside down. Knowing the 3-3-3 rule and following their cues is critical to helping them feel secure.*

*And you're not alone when you foster. I feel more confident bringing certain dogs into my home knowing I have the support of the rescue and their community behind me.*

*Sure, I'd love to keep them all, but if I adopted every one, I couldn't open my home to the next animal in need. Saying goodbye always brings tears, but seeing them thrive in their forever homes and getting updates on how deeply loved they are makes every hard moment worth it.*

*Every single one holds a special place in my heart."* ❤️

Colleen, thank you to you and your family for being their safe place, their advocates, and their bridge to a better life.

Because sometimes, the greatest gift we can give a rescue dog isn't keeping them forever — it's preparing them to be loved forever. 🐾❤️

We truly couldn't do what we do without foster families like yours. You are the reason second chances are possible.

🐾 𝐀 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲! 🐾

We recently took Wally to see a veterinary dental specialist to have a closer look at his jaw and teeth, following an injury that occurred sometime before he came into our care.

The good news is that 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲! ❤️ He is happy, active, eating normally, loves to play, opens his mouth comfortably, and is showing no signs that his old injury is causing him discomfort so far.

The specialist did find that the trauma caused his jaw to heal slightly out of alignment, which means his teeth don't line up quite as they normally would. As he grows and his adult teeth come in, he'll need a follow-up dental assessment, and while we are unsure of exactly what will be in store for this guys future dental needs, we can assume at minimum he may require a small dental procedure to prevent one of his adult teeth from causing problems with the roof of his mouth once it comes in.

Because of the location of his previous injury, the specialist will also continue to monitor his jaw as he grows. At this point, there is 𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐣𝐚𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, and we're simply being proactive about keeping an eye on him.

We wanted to share this update because transparency is incredibly important to us, especially when it comes to our animals' medical histories. ❤️

And the exciting part… 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬! 🏡🐾

He is one happy, goofy little guy who hasn't let his past slow him down one bit. We will make sure his future family has all of the information they need about his history and his recommended follow-up care.

More on this sweet boy coming soon! ❤️

🐾❤️ MEET HOLLY — 10 YEARS YOUNG & LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME! ❤️🐾

Sometimes, the best things in life come in small, quiet packages… and Holly is one of them. 🥹❤️

At 10 years old, Holly isn’t looking for wild adventures or a busy household. She’s looking for her person — someone to love, someone to follow around the yard, someone to snuggle with on the couch, and someone to curl up beside at the end of the day.

Holly is a sweet, quiet little shadow who simply wants to be wherever you are. She rarely barks, is happy to relax in her kennel when you leave, and will happily sleep through the night snuggled up in bed with you. 🥰

🏡 Holly’s ideal home:
❤️ An adult-only home where she can feel safe and comfortable.
❤️ Someone home most of the day, such as a retiree or someone who works from home. ❤️ A patient person willing to work with her on house training. Holly still has occasional accidents and needs regular, consistent potty breaks.
❤️ A home with cats or chickens is okay!
❤️ Other dogs may be possible with slow, thoughtful introductions. She’s a little spicy at first! 🌶️😂

Holly likes children, but fast, unpredictable movements can make her nervous, and she may nip when overwhelmed. For this reason, an adult-only home is best for her.

She isn’t much of a player and doesn’t need to be the centre of attention. She’s happiest quietly keeping you company, whether you’re relaxing on the couch or puttering around the yard. ❤️

Holly may need a little extra patience, understanding and structure, but what she offers in return is something pretty special: unconditional love and the kind of companionship that makes a house feel like home.

At 10 years old, Holly deserves to spend her golden years feeling safe, loved and cherished. She deserves someone who sees past her age and appreciates the beautiful little soul she is. 🥹🐾

Could you be Holly’s person? ❤️

📩 Please send us an application if you think you could offer this sweet girl the calm, loving home she deserves.

Let's help Holly find the person she'll never have to leave behind. 🏡❤️

Meet Silo & Angus! 🐾

These two little brothers just turned 8 weeks old and are officially ready to find their forever homes! ❤️

Sweet as pie and twice as nice, Silo & Angus are the perfect little pair of cuddle bugs. 🥹🐱

They’ve got the sweetest little faces, the softest little purrs, and just enough kitten mischief to keep life interesting!

And because they’re brothers, they come with a built-in best friend. 💕

Adopt them together and receive a special sibling discount! But don’t worry — these little sweethearts are also independent of one another and available for separate adoption.

🥧 Sweet as pie? Absolutely.
🐾 A little slice of heaven? Definitely.
😻 Guaranteed to steal your heart? We think so.

Silo (orange floofball) & Angus (black and white) — two tiny slices of sweetness looking for forever homes. ❤️🏡

Who needs dessert when you can have kittens this sweet? 😹
