Happy Thanksgiving! Westlock Community Foundation is deeply thankful for the opportunity to transform local generosity into lasting impact.

From our foundation in the Millers’ gift to the community, then channelling local contributions and accessing external funding, WCF has surpassed our “Road to $1 Million” goal, with over $1.3 million invested in our community since 2023.

On this road, we go beyond funding. We connect generosity, opportunity, and impact to strengthen our entire community. We are truly grateful to have you join us on this journey.

We are delighted to welcome Sarah Rhoad as the Westlock Community Foundation’s new Foundation Assistant.

Sarah brings extensive experience in customer service, administration, financial oversight, and community leadership, along with a genuine passion for building strong relationships and supporting local organizations. Her volunteer leadership as President of the Westlock Preschool Society and Treasurer of the Westlock Soccer Association reflects her commitment to making a positive difference in our community.

Sarah is excited for the opportunity to help strengthen our region by supporting community groups, fostering meaningful connections, and contributing to lasting positive change.

Like a quilt, strong communities are stitched together, one relationship at a time.🪡

We're grateful to the Westlock Crazy Quilters, who use our space for meetings and sewing weekends and recently shared this beautiful quilted collage, exploring the theme of HOME. Each patch reflects a unique perspective, reminding us that home is built through connection, creativity, and belonging.

At the Westlock Community Foundation, we often talk about the importance of community. This inspiring display is a wonderful reminder that while "home" means something different to each of us, it is the relationships we build and the places we gather that connect us all. Thank you to the Westlock Crazy Quilters for helping make our Foundation a place of connection, creativity, and belonging!

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the children who never came home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities.

We recognize that acknowledgement is only one small part of reconciliation. The Westlock Community Foundation is committed to continuing to listen, learn, and reflect on how our work, relationships, and decisions can contribute to healing, respect, and a stronger shared future.

As Indigenous philanthropy thought leader Edgar Villanueva reminds us: “Money is like medicine. It can heal or it can hurt.” Today, we reflect on how philanthropy can support healing when it is rooted in truth, humility, relationships, and responsibility.

May this be a day of remembrance and renewed commitment to walking forward with care and responsibility.
