1st Wawa Scouts would like to acknowledge Golden Sky Firewood for their gracious contributions to our local scouting program. All donations will be used to further improve our youth's adventures!

Our Scouts took advantage of the beautiful fall weather this past weekend to go out on our first camping trip of the season: a 3 day paddling adventure on Mijinimungshing (Mijin) Lake. We had cold nights but warm days, and got to experience the fall colours just starting to pop!

We also had an amazing experience as our local dive company came out to show the Scouts how to do some small dives with a floating compressor system. We were very lucky that the sun was out and the water was warm, which made for great diving and a session on how to flip and rescue a canoe in open water.

We'd like to say our special thanks to:

Mel, our diving instructor, for providing the equipment and instruction for a fun and safe first experience underwater

Principal Mike Lavergne of ESCSJ, for providing us with the trailer, canoes, and paddles needed to make this trip happen

Park Superintendent Norm Lafreniere of LSPP, who provided us with all the park permits required to stay at the backcountry sites in Mijin over the weekend

Aaron from Golden Sky Firewood for providing us with firewood for our adventures!

We're very grateful to have community partners like these who support our youth on these wilderness adventures. They help build confidence and critical life skills alongside outdoor skills that they will have with them for the rest of their lives.

Up next: our Cub fall camp at Rabbit Blanket October 2-4!
