And the winner is…

Last Friday, we hosted Children’s Fun Day, where many kids visited the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, enjoyed an unforgettable day of fun, and entered our Draw for a free week at the Historical Children’s Program Summer Day Camp, organized by the Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society.

Our camp offers children an unforgettable summer filled with adventures, games, and new friendships. Campers will take part in pysanka and perogy-making workshops, build a traditional burdei shelter, explore the museum, and discover what life was like for Ukrainian settlers over 100 years ago through interactive historical experiences.

Camp registration includes bus transportation from three convenient locations:
Week 1: July 20–24
North Edmonton (CYM – Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex) and Sherwood Park (Heartland Alliance Church)
Week 2: July 27–31
Vegreville and Mundare (Vegreville Garden Inn)
Week 3: August 10–14
Sherwood Park (Heartland Alliance Church)

Минулої п’ятниці ми провели Children’s Fun Day, де багато діток відвідали Село Спадщини Української Культури, отримали безліч яскравих вражень та взяли участь у розіграші безкоштовного тижня в Історичній дитячій програмі літнього денного табору, яку організовує Товариство Приятелів Українського Села.

Наш табір - це чудова можливість подарувати дитині незабутнє літо, сповнене пригод, ігор та нових друзів. На дітей чекають майстер-класи з писанкарства та ліплення вареників, будівництво бурдею, дослідження музею просто неба та захоплива подорож у минуле, де вони дізнаються, яким було життя українських поселенців понад 100 років тому.

У вартість табору входить автобусне перевезення з трьох різних локацій:

20–24 липня - Північний Едмонтон (CYM – Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex) та Шервуд-Парк (Heartland Alliance Church)
27–31 липня - Вегревіль та Мандер (Vegreville Garden Inn)
10–14 серпня - Шервуд-Парк (Heartland Alliance Church)

The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village is finally open to visitors, and that can only mean one thing: we're getting ready for the best summer and the best camp yet!

For 37 years, the Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society has been creating unforgettable memories for children, and we're confident this summer will be no exception.

Campers, we've prepared countless adventures just for you!

Our camp takes place at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, so a journey back in time is guaranteed. You'll discover what life was like for early Ukrainian settlers over 100 years ago, meet historical interpreters, and experience the stories of people living in the early 1900s.

You'll also have the opportunity to wear historical costumes, making your journey into the past even more authentic and memorable.

Along the way, you'll meet the Village animals, and who knows, you might even get the chance to help feed them!

One of the highlights of our camp is our hands-on workshops. Ever wanted to learn how to make perogies, pysanky, or build a burdei? We'll teach you!

And of course, you'll make new friends, discover something new every day, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Parents! If you're worried your child will spend the summer in front of a computer or phone, our camp is the perfect alternative. Nearly all of our programming takes place outdoors, and every day is filled with exciting activities, creativity, and new discoveries.

Most importantly, children learn through play. It's a unique opportunity to spend the summer being active, learning new things, and having fun.

Our energetic team serves Ukrainian and Western fare to museum visitors and gains valuable experience in a commercial kitchen. THE UKRAINIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE VILLAGE IS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2026 SEASON, AND SUMMER CAMP IS BACK!

Summer goes by quickly, but you can give your child memories that last long after it ends - as they have fun and learn in a culturally rich park-like setting.

At the Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society's HCP Summer Day Camp, kids get the chance to dress up in 1920s costume, spend their days outdoors, make crafts, play games, meet new friends, and experience new adventures at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village for a full week.

THE UKRAINIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE VILLAGE IS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2026 SEASON!!! So, who wants to travel back in time this summer!?

In our HCP Summer Day Camp at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, time seems to stand still and takes children back to the 1900s. Our campers dress in historical costumes and meet some of east central Alberta's farmers, rural residents, and townspeople from a century ago, who share their stories and show their way of life.

The Historical Children’s Program is filled with exciting activities such as:

У нашому літньому денному таборі “Історичної Дитячої Програми” в Селі Українсько-Канадської Культурної Спадщини час ніби зупиняється та переносить дітей у 1900-ті роки. Наші учасники одягають історичні костюми та знайомляться з фермерами, сільськими жителями й містянами зі східно-центральної Альберти з минулого століття, які діляться своїми історіями та показують свій спосіб життя.

Добридень and Hello everyone!

We at the Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society are pleased to invite you to our new Alberta approved farmers' market, which we are operating at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village!

Running from 10:00am to 3:00pm this Saturday, April 25th, and being held on our brand new covered and heated patio and inside the Silska Domiwka, you'll be able to find a range of goods from delicious sourdough bread from JW Farm Fresh Greens, traditional Ukrainian foods made by Dobra Kubasa and Stenia's Kitchen, beautiful handcrafted goods created by Crafts by JJ and Magic Blooming , and so much more! In addition, the Kalyna Kitchen and FoUVS giftshop will be open, and we will be providing fun and engaging children's activities!

As the historic buildings and site will not be open to visitors on this day, and the only available building will be the Silska Domiwka and patio, there will be no admission charge for attending this market.

Come out and enjoy our wonderful vendors, a warm plate of pyrohy, and experience a farmers' market like no other! If you are interested in applying, we still have a few spots left. Contact [email protected] for more details, or message us here.

Volunteer opportunity!

If you’ve ever said “It’s not that cold” in February… we need you. 😄❄️

We’re proud to support the Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival again this year! 🎿 Volunteer with us on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 6:15 a.m. to around 10:00 a.m. for parking assistance.

We’ll supply lots of hot coffee and a cozy end-of-shift breakfast!
