Starting this January, The Bridge Program and Seniors Support Network have joined forces to offer a 5-day-a-week drop-in program.

Who can join?

🧠 Bridges: For adults living with mental health challenges and cognitive impairments, offering social connection, recovery goal-setting, and skill-building to manage mental health.

💙 Seniors Program: For anyone aged 60+ seeking social connection, discussions, crafts, and gentle physical activities.

Over 800 people in the Greater Victoria region turned to Island Community Mental Health this year for support—and we were proud to be there every step of the way. 💙 Whether it was finding meaningful employment, securing housing, or accessing peer support, hope and recovery were at the heart of everything we accomplished together.

✨ What we’re celebrating this year:
• 2 Years of Peer Support programs changing lives.
• New Grow programs launching in 2025 to offer even more ways to support mental health recovery.

Happy Holidays from Island Community Mental Health 💫

As we enter the holiday season, we want to remind everyone to be gentle with themselves during this time. The holidays can bring joy, but they can also bring stress, expectations, and emotional challenges. It’s okay to set boundaries, say no when you need to, and prioritize your mental health.

Remember, self-care is not selfish—it’s essential. Whether it’s taking a quiet moment to breathe, reaching out to a friend, or simply giving yourself permission to rest, small acts of kindness towards yourself can make a big difference.

Our team is taking a well-deserved break, and regular programming will resume on January 6th. We look forward to supporting you in the new year!

Anxiety disorders can also involve sudden, overwhelming feelings of fear or terror that peak within minutes—known as panic attacks.

The holidays can be a season of joy, but they can also bring feelings of loneliness or isolation. If this time feels heavy, we want to remind you of something powerful: hope 💫

Hope doesn’t need grand gestures or perfect circumstances—it simply is. It perches quietly in our hearts, resilient and steady, even when life feels uncertain.

Taking care of your mental health is a personal and ever-evolving process, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, these gentle reminders might help:

💡 Engage in work and play that makes you feel useful and fulfilled. Finding purpose in small activities can brighten even the darkest days.

💞 Invest in relationships and spend quality time with the people who matter to you. Connection is powerful medicine.

🏃‍♂️ Move your body when you can. Exercise doesn’t have to be intense—any movement can help reduce stress.

🌟 Do a good deed for someone else. Acts of kindness are rewarding and meaningful, both for others and for you.

🙏 Take a moment for gratitude. Noticing one thing you’re grateful for each day can shift your mindset over time.

Your mental health matters, and you don’t have to face challenges alone. At ICMH, we’re here to support you every step of the way 💙
