Lori Wong continues her classroom readings at Lord Strathcona Elementary in Vancouver’s Chinatown, sharing Ellie Awakens the Spirit of Tam Kung Temple with three classrooms and hundreds of students.

Following her cross-Canada tour, Lori has now completed 54 readings, reaching over 2,700 students nationwide. 🇨🇦

Proudly supported Canadian Heritage, this project continues to bring culture, history, and storytelling to the next generation.

A proud moment for our Hakka community and culture.

During his powerful performance of Benevolence in Victoria, Theatre Creator, Performer & Video Artist Kevin Wong shared stories of his Hakka journey, bringing history, culture, and community to life on stage.

Kevin Matthew Wong is a member of the Yen Wo Society, generously volunteering his time and supporting the temple and its community.

After the show, he stopped by the temple to spend time with community members, a meaningful moment for all who were there.

Thank you, Kevin, for sharing your story and uplifting our community through your art. We’re proud of you and wish you continued success as your tour continues.

That’s a wrap on our Montreal Children’s Book Tour 🇨🇦✨

Nine schools. Hundreds of students. Meaningful conversations about early Chinese pioneers, culture, and the living history of Canada's oldest Chinese temple.

Readings in English by Lori Wong and in French by Terry Fan brought these stories to life across classrooms.

This week, Lori Wong is visiting 9 schools across Montreal as part of our Children’s Book Tour, sharing the story behind Ellie Awakens the Spirits of Tam Kung Temple with hundreds of students.

Watching young readers learn about early Chinese pioneers, cultural traditions, and the history of Tam Kung Temple has been incredibly special — and now this story is reaching even further.

This book project is funded by Canadian Heritage.
