There’s something really different about hearing an idea live.

You’re not scrolling past it. You’re not half-listening while doing something else. You’re sitting in the room with the speaker, the story, and everyone around you.

That’s what makes TEDx Kalamalka Lake special.

On November 3, we’ll gather at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre for What We Carry, an evening of nine talks, nine different perspectives, and one shared experience.

The best talks are the ones that stick with you after they’re over.

You might find yourself thinking about something a speaker said while you’re standing in the lobby, driving home, or talking to someone the next day. Sometimes one idea can make you see something familiar in a completely different way.

That’s what we’re looking forward to at TEDx Kalamalka Lake: What We Carry.

Our speakers are bringing stories and ideas that invite us to think about what we carry in our lives, our work, our homes, our communities, and the way we see the world.

So we want to ask:
What kind of idea stays with you the longest?
Is it a story that moves you?
A question that challenges you?
A perspective you had never thought about before?

That’s part of what makes the night so interesting.

On November 3, nine speakers will take the TEDx Kalamalka Lake stage, each bringing their own story, perspective, question, and idea to share.

You’ll hear talks that touch on climate communication, curiosity, visual thinking, inclusion, home, discipline, sound, identity, and what it means to carry our experiences forward.

Some talks might challenge the way you think.
Some might move you.
Some might stay with you long after you leave the room.
That’s the kind of evening we’re looking forward to.
