On March 6, 2026, members of Soroptimist International of Vancouver were honoured to speak at a catered lunch hosted by Owen Bird Law Corporation in celebration of International Women’s Day.

During the event, we shared our personal connection to Soroptimist Vancouver, spoke about the impact of the Live Your Dream Award and how it helped change the direction of life, and introduced the work of Soroptimist International—including how our programs support women and girls through education, leadership, and opportunity.

Thank you to Owen Bird Law Corporation for the warm invitation to speak and for celebrating women’s leadership. Special thanks to our club member Tracy, for coordinating this wonderful community engagement opportunity.

A historic moment for Soroptimist International of Vancouver 💙

On February 5, the rezoning application for our co-owned property at 8080 Yukon Street was officially and unanimously approved by the City of Vancouver. We were grateful to have members and supporters present for the public hearing and approval vote.

This milestone represents the go-ahead we have been working toward since the idea was first put forward nearly ten years ago. The seed for redevelopment of the site ... co-owned by Soroptimist International of Vancouver and the Kiwanis Club ... officially sprouted in 2023. Once complete, the project will include just over 900 units in 4 buildings, located steps from the Canada Line at Marine Gateway near Cambie.

As SIV approaches the charter anniversary of 100 years of service supporting women and girls, this project reflects our long-standing, women-centred commitment to community building, affordable housing, education, and financial support in our city.

This community collaboration will help shape a more accessible and inclusive Vancouver for generations to come.
