This is the official page for the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Society (VAMMR). We are a global leader in marine mammal rescue, research, and rehabilitation. We respond to over 300 marine mammal emergencies each year and operate Canada's only dedicated marine mammal hospital facility. Our mission is clear: to rescue, rehabilitate, and release marine mammals in distress.

We get so many comments and questions about our rehab tubs, so here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at why we use them 🦭💙

These spaces are temporary, closely monitored, and designed around the needs of young marine mammals during rehabilitation, not long-term housing. Our goal is always recovery and release back into the wild as soon as they’re healthy and independent.

Every setup, protocol, and decision is made with animal welfare in mind. 🩺🌊
