This is the official page for the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Society (VAMMR). We are a global leader in marine mammal rescue, research, and rehabilitation. We respond to over 300 marine mammal emergencies each year and operate Canada's only dedicated marine mammal hospital facility. Our mission is clear: to rescue, rehabilitate, and release marine mammals in distress.

When Alma first arrived at the rescue centre, she needed X-rays. We often take these in a clear tote, which keeps the pup safely contained without the need for restraint.

Since it was just before dinner time, Alma was understandably hungry… and decided to spend the wait suckling on the wall of the tote. 😂

The result? A whole new (and very entertaining) view of what suckling looks like! 🦭

Bayne has officially graduated to one of our pre-release pools! 🎉🦭

She still has plenty of growing to do and lots of weight to gain before she's ready for life back in the wild, but she's one step closer to heading home to the ocean!

So naturally, when our newest admit needed a Canadian-themed name, we couldn’t resist calling him Hawkins! 🦭🇨🇦

And of course, our volunteer team had to celebrate with a delicious snack of his namesake. 😂
