📚 Help us spread celiac awareness this May!

One of the most powerful ways to improve public education around celiac disease is through local library displays, featuring educational resources and gluten-free cookbooks. And we need your help to make it happen across BC!

We’ve created a downloadable Library Display Kit with a brochure and poster your library can use. Reaching out now gives libraries time to gather materials ahead of Celiac Awareness Month.

👉 Visit or call your local branch
👉 Ask who coordinates displays
👉 Share our brochure/poster in person or by email

Download your kit here: https://tr.ee/7uRWQn4pfy

Already contacted a library? Let us know in the comments or email [email protected] so we can keep the momentum going!

Navroz Mubarak to all those celebrating across BC!

Navroz (Nowruz), the Persian New Year, marks the arrival of spring and renewal. From sabzeh placed on the Haft sin table, to traditional dishes like samanoo, wheat plays a meaningful role in the celebrations, symbolising growth and new beginnings.

For those in the celiac community, these traditions can feel a bit more complex, but there are still many ways to safely take part.

Try growing a gluten-free sabzeh using lentils, mung beans, or chickpeas. And while traditional samanoo is made from wheat, you can explore gluten-free alternatives like sweet puddings made from rice flour or dates.

Many classic dishes can also be adapted, like making ash reshteh with gluten-free rice noodles or extra legumes, preparing kuku sabzi as a naturally gluten-free option, or serving sabzi polo with rice as a safe and traditional staple.

With a little creativity, the spirit of Navroz (renewal, connection, and joy) can be fully embraced by everyone at the table. 💚

March is Nutrition Month in Canada! 🍎

We’ll be sharing tips and resources all month long to help you eat safely while living gluten free.

To kick things off, let’s talk about hidden sources of gluten. Gluten doesn’t just show up in obvious foods like bread or pasta. It can also appear in products you might not expect.

Always remember to read labels carefully when purchasing items like:

• Sauces, gravies, and marinades
• Spice blends and seasoning mixes
• Processed meats (like deli meats or sausages) and meat alternatives
• Candy and chocolate
• Salad dressings and condiments
• Soups, broths and bouillon cubes
• Imitation seafood

And a quick note for families: Playdough often contains wheat and can pose a risk if a child puts it in their mouth or puts their fingers in their mouth during or after playing.

Follow along this month for more tips on staying safe, confident, and well-nourished on a gluten-free diet. 💚
