Today is Earth Day — when we celebrate creation and take action to fight for the future of our planet. Our project around Lake Chad is helping local families revive their ecosystem and fight back against climate change. If you're looking for a way to encourage kids in your church or community to care for creation, check out CLWR's new VBS curriculum — Creation Care Quest! It's a free curriculum that can be used for a week-long VBS, or broken up to use for Sunday School or other kids activities. Download it today at https://www.clwr.org/vbs?utm_source=meta&utm_medium=social

Our programs last year under the umbrella of "Reading Scripture with the Land" were made possible from a grant from Vital Worship, Vital Preaching. If your community is considering a creative project to enhance and deepen worship we encourage you to apply. Here is some info from their recent letter to us:
We are honored to partner with you in the journey of learning that is rooted in place and biblical eco-theology. We appreciate the centrality of the land and the deep connection between place, Scripture and worship that you came to more fully appreciate from your biblical study and your spiritual practices. We're also delighted that the project actually went far beyond those original themes and emphases to become a powerful experience of relationship building and collaboration among people previously disconnected from one another. We hope your collaboration with other churches in a northern indigenous community will continue to grow and bear fruit for all of your churches.
We ask you to help us by telling others about our program and encouraging those interested in a year of learning and focusing on worship to consider applying for a grant. If you would direct them to our website at worship.calvin.edu/grants, we would be very grateful! The next date is April 25, 2026.

While it might not look like much is happening on the surface, Wild Lectionary is hard at work behind the scenes. Several Wild Lectionary contributors are part of a Task Group of the Anglican Church of Canada helping to prepare liturgical material for the Feast of the Creator. In 2025 the Anglican c

Friends - thank you for last night’s celebratory pot luck, for the behind-the-scenes organizing (so impressed that Adele was tasked with sussing out my silver/gold preferences), for your presence and contributions of words and food. And for the salal and cedar pendants and chain, which I am so enjoying. Salal and Cedar - our matron saints!
I look forward to moving into the future with the community. You give me hope to hold up against the chaos that threatens us and the world.
With much gratitude,
Elizabeth

A message from community member Adele. The light always returns, and much of the light in my life this past year has come through the Salal + Cedar community and all its relations. Thank you.
Even the rocks cry out. These rocks came together on Invermere Beach in Nanaimo when we were deciding whether to move to BC or stay in Ontario. And we found a home here. May you have joy this Christmas, in both dubious and delightful circumstances.
