EMO Collective

EMO Collective EMO (Experimental Media Outsiders) is an emerging artist collective started by Emily Carr University students and graduates in early 2019.

Experimental Media Outsiders (EMO) Collective is an analogue film + new media arts collective for women, disabled folks, QTBIWOC and LGBTQ2S+ identified people 🎥🎞️💾
📌Unceded Coast Salish territory We provide workshops and art-related resources for transgender and two-spirit identified individuals, women identified individuals, individuals with disabilities, BIWOC and anyone else facing institutio

nal/educational/accessibility barriers to learning computer programming, electronics, analogue filmmaking and interactive media making. EMO is committed to decolonial and anti-oppressive frameworks, tactics and ways of learning. As a collective, EMO is invested in continuing the experimental and radical history of analogue practices, including cine-film, expanded cinema and installation work. At a time when the resources and space committed to analogue practices have become scarce, we believe that self-determined initiatives are an important aspect for sustaining them. EMO acknowledges that it was founded and practices on unceded Coast Salish territories belonging to the Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh) people.
