Our Vision

We are changing lives, one Afghan child at a time. Our Goals:

1.

To Provide the Indira Ghandi Children’s Hospital in Kabul Afghanistan, with basic medical supplies and equipment.
2. To relieve poverty by providing financial assistance, food and clothing to poor families in Afghanistan.
3. To advance education in Afghanistan by providing books, school supplies, and other educational necessities to poor public school students in Afghanistan.

Parting ways with the charity I established 17 years ago evokes mixed emotions. I am thankful for the enriching journey, the countless lives positively impacted, and the cherished memories created along the way. Farewell, but rest assured, the advocacy will continue.

🚨 Important Update Regarding Our Charity❗

Dear Supporters, Donors, and Friends,

We are writing to you today with a heavy heart to share some important news regarding Beacon of Hope for Afghan Children Society (BOHFACS). After much deliberation and careful consideration, we, the Board of Directors have made the difficult decision to close our charity after 17 years of operation.

This decision was not made lightly, and it comes after a thorough assessment of our organization's mission alignment and the current landscape of charitable initiatives in Afghanistan. Specifically, the struggles of continuing our charity’s mission to provide Afghan children access to education, health, and wellness, as well as financial support under the current regime has been the anchor of our decision. While this news may come as a surprise, please know that it was made with the utmost consideration for the impact on our donors, supporters, and the children and families we serve in Afghanistan.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to you for your unwavering support of BOHFACS over the years. Your generosity, dedication, and belief in our mission have been instrumental in our ability to make a difference in the lives of countless individuals and families.

Whether you served on the board, volunteered at events, coordinated fundraisers, or lent your expertise in various capacities, your generosity and compassion have left an indelible mark on our organization. Your collective efforts have helped us achieve significant milestones and for that, we are incredibly thankful.

In addition, over the years, we've partnered with numerous companies and organizations, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for the collaboration. Your support and shared vision have been instrumental in our journey, and we deeply appreciate the opportunity to work together towards common goals. Thank you for being valued partners.

Campaign Update 🚨

In the month of October, the province of Herat, Afghanistan experienced multiple and devastating earthquakes with several aftershocks rippling through the area, affecting neighboring provinces and causing exacerbating humanitarian needs in the region. A dire situation emerged and thousands of people lost their lives, while thousands more were left homeless -leading to a significant displacement of people.

Through our emergency response campaign for the victims of this earthquake disaster, in a span of less than two weeks, our donors helped us reach our goal and raise $20,000.00.

Following a comprehensive needs assessment in order to provide relief to the most vulnerable and affected families, our ground personnel gave 5000 AFN to 180 families to help them purchase essential supplies such as food, clean water, shelter and access medical care.

We thank our volunteers, donors and supporters for their continued efforts and contributions. Especial thank you to our on the ground personnel and partners Kabul fans.

To all our donors we appreciate your generosity, commitment and compassion towards people of Afghanistan.

Due to the multiple devastating earthquakes that have occurred in Herat, Afghanistan, we would like to announce an emergency campaign.

The impact of these earthquakes have destroyed over 20 villages, killed 3000+ people, and injured at least 10,000 people. Over 90% of people killed in these quakes were Afghan women and children.

Winter is around the corner and this region of Herat will face harsh winds in the coming months. They will require food, shelter and medical help.

In response to this devastation BOH team would like to band together and provide aid to those affected. Your donations will be used to provide 200 families with food, clothing and medical supplies. We aim to raise at least $20,000 CAD to support these families.

Update #3!

We are extremely excited to share that during this blessed month of Ramadan and through funds received from our Ramadan campaign, another 100 families in the provinces of Parwan and Kapisa were provided with food hampers containing crucial and lifesaving food items. Each family received 7500 AFN worth of groceries.

We would like to express our appreciation to you for choosing our organization to donate your Zakat and Sadaqah to help save lives in Afghanistan. As always, we couldn't execute our programs without the help of our partners and on-the-ground team Kabul fansl. They always go above and beyond to ensure these vital food distributions happen.

Ramadan Food Distribution #2

The number of people in Afghanistan requiring food assistance has increased every year since the fall of the former government. Today, over 28 million Afghans are in dire poverty. Our team is trying to reach as many impoverished families as possible.

With your generous donations and compassion, on April 15, which marked the 25th day of Ramadan, we were able to provide essential food packages to 30 families in the province of Jalalabad. Each family received 7500 AFN in food supplies and 500 AFN in cash.

We would like to express immense appreciation for the cooperation of Kabul fans for being our eyes and ears and working around the clock to make sure the neediest people are assisted.

We are forever grateful for your support and trust in the work we do. Without your donations and words of encouragement our work would not be possible.

🚨Big Announcement🚨

We are thrilled, proud and grateful to announce that we have received yet another large sum of donation in the amount of $20,000.00 towards our 2nd Annual Ramadan Campaign, from an incredible individual from Vancouver, British Columbia. In line with their wishes, we will keep the donor’s name anonymous.

This donation will provide food relief packages and clothing to those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

Let’s continue to ignite hope and optimism in the lives of those suffering from hunger and starvation.

We would like to express gratitude for your kindness and generosity toward our Ramadan Campaign. Thus far, we have raised $25,956 since the beginning of the holy month. Only $15,046 to go to meet our $40K goal! 🤲🏽 🕌

On April 1, 2023, we provided food packages to 130 families (125 families appeared on video and to respect the wishes of the other 5 families , they were given their packages off video). This major food distribution took place in Kabul, Afghanistan, with the generous donations from an Afghan family from Toronto, Ontario.

Each family was given 7600 AFN worth of essential food supplies and 500 AFN in cash for other necessities.

This was our first-round of food distribution to the poorest families in our motherland during this Ramadan.

We encourage our community members to consider donating to our Ramadan campaign so we can ensure such impoverished families are able to have access to food during the holy month of Ramadan.
