Children's Autism Federation of BC

Children's Autism Federation of BC CAFBC has focused on advocacy and support for a service delivery model that truly encompasses the needs of autistic children.

Digital Advocacy
Support & Resources for families & caregivers of autistic children and their allies
Advocacy for meaningful consultation & engagement for families Created by Elena Lawson & Cassandra Lopez, Children’s Autism Federation of BC was founded as a grassroots organization to hold the government accountable for policy decisions surrounding individual autism funding in British Columbia (

B.C.). The primary focus being the importance of retaining individual funding and timely diagnosis. CAFBC also supports families throughout their pre to post-diagnosis journey. As we continue to navigate through the political and ethical issues surrounding any shift in a service delivery model, the Children’s Autism Federation of B.C. remains focused on ensuring that all autistic children and their families have their voices amplified and their needs understood. CAFBC will continue to hold the government accountable for any change that will negatively impact children in the autism community and continue to bring awareness to these issues.

The Ombudsperson, Jay Chalke, announced his office has begun an investigation into the exclusion of students from schools in BC’s K-12 public education system.

“Our office has received complaints from across the province about children, including those with disabilities, being excluded from school with little or no instruction,” said Chalke. “We will examine the extent to which K-12 students are being excluded from schools across the province and whether those exclusions are fair. We will assess the role of the Ministry of Education and Child Care and school districts in these exclusions.”
