It's National Wildlife Day! Today we are highlighting a happy story to celebrate the incredible wildlife who share our spaces.

After being observed alone on the side of the road for a couple of days, these fox kits were captured and brought to Turtle Pond to receive care. At their young age without a mom, they would've had a slim chance at surviving in the wild. 🦊

As with all our patients, on arrival, they were provided a warm place to stay together as siblings and food that mirrored their natural diet. As they got older, they graduated to a larger enclosure where they have been learning to play and act like foxes.

Soon they'll be released thanks to the hard work of our staff and volunteers - and as a result of the community support we receive!

Update:
A ride has been secured. He will be in his home wetland tomorrow.

This big guy is looking for a ride back to Garden River (Echo Bay area). He was admitted earlier this year with injuries sustained from a vehicle strike. He is now all healed up and ready to return home. If anyone is travelling to Sault Ste. Marie and could meet up with the rescuer in the Echo Bay area, please text Gloria at 705 691 0433. Thank you.

Hungry little Eastern grey squirrels are as tender as can be! 🐿️

These sweet little babies were orphaned and are young enough that they would not have survived without intervention. We have several litters of babies who have come in to the Centre recently, all requiring special care - especially considering they are smaller than the size of our hands!

We've treated a huge variety of Ontario's feathered species so far this season! 🐦🐦‍⬛🦆

Birds are one of our most commonly admitted species, often found orphaned after their nest is disturbed or in other circumstances without their mothers. Caring from them takes a significant amount of work: at their youngest, feeding sessions must sometimes occur within minutes of each other between dawn and dusk! Our incredible staff and volunteers keep these sweet little beaks full and fed. 🍼

Please remember baby birds are resilient - fledglings may look disoriented, but often just need time to get their bearings. Be sure to watch them for a while prior to calling experts to intervene!

A big thank you to the students at La Mosaic Montessori in Timmins! 💚🐢

After hosting a lemonade stand, they raised $532.25 and chose to donate the proceeds to Turtle Pond.

We're grateful for their support and for all the hard work the kids put into making this fundraiser a success! Each donation helps us continue caring for injured and orphaned wildlife. Join us in thanking these wonderful kids for their efforts!

Check out our awesome Turtle Pond bingo volunteers, Sophie and Tamara! 🐢

Sophie and Tamara help fundraise for veterinary services for Turtle Pond by volunteering through Delta Bingo & Gaming Since we've been a part of this program, Turtle Pond has had a steady income that has significantly helped with covering medical expenses for wildlife at the Centre. Consistent sources of funds are critical for our operations and care, and we are grateful for those who make it happen!

If you would like to attend bingo in support of Turtle Pond, we'll be at Delta Bingo in Sudbury on August 5, 12, 19, 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 each day 🗓️

We are looking for a Wildlife Health Technician Intern to join our team for a 52-week contract. If you:

-Love wildlife and have a desire to work in animal rehabilitation
-Are willing to become proficient in animal care protocols including triage, medical procedures, tracking and reporting
-Work well in a team environment
-Are 18 or older
