Thank you so much for your donation, Working Gear! The van was full of duvets and warm hearts. They're going to cover Vancouver and keep people here warm and comfortable. We're so grateful for your support.

On September 30, we recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The Salvation Army acknowledges the tragic history of abuse that continues to affect Indigenous communities. It is a day to honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools and the families and communities whose lives continue to be affected by this history.

At Belkin House, we set up stations to provide information and resources for our community, like events and film screenings happening in our city. We also included prayer stations for our residents to reflect on the profound injustices Indigenous peoples have endured.

We remember. We listen. We reflect. And we commit to reconciliation.

🎉HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BELKIN HOUSE 🎉

While Belkin House is only 22 years old, we've actually been apart of the Vancouver Downtown Eastside Community for over 75 years!

We first started as Dunsmuir House (500 Dunsmuir St) before Belkin House (555 Homer St) was established in 2004 to meet the growing needs of our city. Today, we proudly provide safe and secure housing, food, resources, supports, programming and more to over 200 clients and residents.

Happy Birthday, Belkin House! 💗

Did you know Belkin House is not alone? ❤️

Across Vancouver, The Salvation Army provides a network of programs and services designed to meet people where they are and support different needs in our community.

🏠 The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light — Providing shelter, meals, recovery programs, and community support for people experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction.

🤝 The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver — Building connection through community programs, practical support, activities, and opportunities for people to come together.

❤️ The Salvation Army Kate Booth House — A safe and supportive place for women and children fleeing violence, offering protection and resources to help families heal and rebuild. https://kateboothhouse.com/

Together, these programs remind us that support can take many forms, and that no one organization works alone to build stronger communities.

✨ Words of Hope

Some words stay with us long after we've read them.

They encourage us, challenge us, and remind us of the power of compassion, service, and hope.

Today, we're excited to share the first edition of Words of Hope. A space where we'll occasionally share quotes that inspire the work we do and the community we're building together.

We hope these words bring a little encouragement to your day and inspire acts of kindness, big or small, wherever life takes you.

❤️ Because together, even the smallest acts of love can create lasting change.

❤️ Community in Action

Behind every meal served is a warm welcome.
Behind every volunteer hour is an act of kindness.
Behind every number is a person whose life has been touched by community.

Over the past three months (April–June), together we've shared:

🤝 3,000+ volunteer hours
🍽️ 20,000+ meals served

These milestones were only possible because of the incredible dedication of our volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners. Thank you for helping create a place where people are welcomed, supported, and reminded that they belong.

Every act of service—big or small—helps build a stronger, more compassionate community.

🎉 Happy 7th Birthday, Richmond House! 🎂

Seven years ago, Richmond House opened with 36 shelter beds. Today, we're proud to offer 60 beds, serve three meals every day, provide practical support through our case workers, and continue growing with the help of our amazing volunteers.

Every year has been made possible by the kindness of our staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and community.

Thank you for helping us build hope, one day at a time. ❤️

Happy Birthday, Richmond House! 🎉
