North Shore NOPE: No Pipeline Expansion North Shore No Pipeline Expansion is a residents group opposing the Trans Mountain pipeline to Burnab

Kinder Morgan proposes to build a new pipeline from Alberta to Burnaby, carrying diluted bitumen (DILBIT) for export. This will result in over 400 tankers a year in the Burrard inlet.
7 times more than current tanker traffic !!! "As Vancouver's mayor, how could I ever support allowing a single, polluting industry - especially one with nearly no jobs in this city - to put Vancouver's strong economy and global reputation at such serious risk ?"

"The Trans Mountain pipeline expansion ( ) could only go forward with huge taxpayer subsidies and with the federal government actually buying the pipeline, and we are now looking at a project over $30 billion, much of that ultimately going to be paid for by taxpayers. Pipelines are part of the economy of the past...the Alberta Premier is simply moving in the wrong direction." — West Coast Lawyer Andrew Gage on Alberta's proposal for a bitumen pipeline to the north coast of BC.

"I think any federal government would lift the existing oil tanker moratorium at their political peril. The fear and the concern about an Exxon Valdez-style oil spill is still very live and it would be both a political and an economic mistake."—West Coast Executive Director Jessica Clogg.

Coastal First Nations have fought to keep crude oil tankers out of territorial waters for over 50 years and remain opposed to plans to push a new oil pipeline from Alberta to the BC northwest coast. Read Coastal First Nations’s full statement here: https://bit.ly/475wv8B

Protect the coast we love!

Right now, oil tankers are banned on the North Coast of B.C. thanks to the hard fought tanker ban of 2019. Foreign investors and Alberta Premiere Danielle Smith want to see gigantic tankers full of bitumen navigate these infamously dangerous waters. To get their way, they need Mark Carney to lift the tanker ban first.

Join thousands of people calling for B.C.’s Liberal MPs to hold the line on the tanker ban and tell Mark Carney that B.C. doesn’t support a new pipeline

B.C. chooses intact coastlines over oil profits. Call for clean, affordable energy for all: https://sierraclub.bc.ca/protect-the-coast-we-love-from-tankers/?UTM_source=TakeActionPage

Your voice is needed! In 2019, British Columbians voted to keep oil tankers off the north coast. Now, Alberta wants to change that with a proposed northern oil pipeline.

Let's make it clear: B.C. chooses clean water, not oil spills and the job losses that come with them.

There is a better path that includes a clean energy grid that lowers bills and creates jobs. But first we need to stand our ground and protect the coast we love.
