Kinder Morgan proposes to build a new pipeline from Alberta to Burnaby, carrying diluted bitumen (DILBIT) for export. This will result in over 400 tankers a year in the Burrard inlet.
7 times more than current tanker traffic !!! "As Vancouver's mayor, how could I ever support allowing a single, polluting industry - especially one with nearly no jobs in this city - to put Vancouver's strong economy and global reputation at such serious risk ?"

Alarm bells should be ringing for Canadians.🚨

The new oil pipeline to the west coast is an expensive, high-risk venture — and rings in at a whopping $35-44B.

And with other cheaper, lower-risk options available for oilsands companies to increase their export capacity, private proponents aren’t interested in footing the bill.

“If the business case were there, a private proponent would have stepped forward by now.”

"Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is staring down a legal challenge after his government spent more than a year unraveling Canadian climate policy.

On Monday, the environmental law charity, Ecojustice, filed a lawsuit in federal court arguing the government’s current climate plan violates a law called the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act. It demands the federal government create a credible plan to meet its climate targets."
