September 30 is a day to honour the children who never returned home, remember Survivors and their families, and recognize the lasting impacts of residential schools. It is a time to listen, learn, reflect, and acknowledge the truths that are essential to reconciliation.

For McMan, September 30 is more than a day of recognition, it reflects an ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

We were honoured to attend the 2026, 10th Anniversary Pokaiks Commemorative Walk and Gathering and to stand alongside community members in remembrance, reflection, and continued commitment to reconciliation.

Kinanâskomitin. We thank you. 🧡

Bringing Them Home is made possible through relationship, generosity, connection and community.

As we prepare to gather for our 4-Day Sacred Fire in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community sponsors, partners and volunteers who are helping Miskanawah create and care for this sacred space.

Your contributions are more than financial support, donated supplies or hours volunteered. They help us welcome Elders, Survivors, families and community to gather on the land, share ceremony and teachings, honour the children who never returned home, and hold space for healing, remembrance and connection.

From October 1st – 4th, many hands will work together. Some will tend to meals, some will help care for the land and gathering space, some will support our Elders, and others will offer their time wherever it is needed. Each contribution becomes part of something deeply meaningful to our community.

This is sêtoskâtowin, working together.
This is nagatohkêwin, caring for one another.
This is wahkotiwin, recognizing the relationships that connect us.
This is miyo-pimâtisiwin, living a good life

Truth and Reconciliation is a commitment to ongoing action, learning, and relationship-building.

At McMan, our Indigenous Strategic Plan strengthens our commitment to truth and reconciliation by guiding meaningful, long-term action across our organization.

Our focus is to:

🤝 Deepen Indigenous community engagement and consultation by building meaningful relationships and ensuring Indigenous voices help shape the work we do.

🌿 Advance our Indigenous strategy in alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, turning commitments into meaningful and measurable action.

👥 Increase alignment of Indigenous staffing with Indigenous client levels, supporting culturally responsive services and strengthening representation within our organization.

We recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, one that requires listening, learning, accountability, and action. Together, we remain committed to building stronger relationships with Indigenous communities and creating more culturally responsive and inclusive services for the children, youth, families, and communities we serve.

We honour the past, listen in the present, and commit to meaningful action for the future.

McMan is looking for caring, committed individuals and families to become foster care parents.

Every child deserves a safe, supportive place to call home. Foster parents can make a lasting difference by providing stability, connection, and a sense of belonging when it matters most.

This is a great opportunity for those interested in opening their homes and hearts to learn about our foster care program. Topics covered will be: Why become a foster parent? Your role as a caregiver. Basic requirements. Challenges, such as trauma and behaviours. Application process. Licensing. Compensation. Training expectations and background checks.

Today, September 10, we recognize World Su***de Prevention Day.

Su***de prevention starts with connection. It starts with checking in, listening without judgment, and creating space for honest conversations about mental health.

A simple question like, “How are you really doing?” can open the door to support and remind someone they are not alone.

Today, and every day, let’s:
💙Talk openly about mental health
💛Listen with compassion
💙Reach out and check in
💛Encourage connection and support

Together, we can help reduce stigma, strengthen connection, and create communities where people feel supported, heard, and valued.

More support. More conversations. More hope.

Thank you for Teeing Up to Connect for Youth Mental Health!

The final number is in! Thanks to the generosity of our community, McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association of Calgary & Area 4th Annual Tee Up to Connect Charity Golf Tournament raised $83,500 net in support of our mental health programming for children, youth, and families across Calgary and area.

This wouldn't be possible without the incredible support of golfers, sponsors and donors who showed up to make sure that McMan’s Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) program and other supports are available when young people need them most.

It was a great day of connection and community in support of an important cause.

A special thank you to our Presenting Sponsor UKG and Gold Sponsors Logel Homes and Hillcrest Financial!

We also appreciate Energy Projects Consulting, AUTOMAX, Hamilton & Partners and Desjardins Insurance, House of Cars, iF1 Solutions, Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corp., Emery Jamieson LLP, and Spolumbo’s for creating exceptional on course experiences for our golfers.

We’re grateful to our Hole Sponsors: Business Development Bank of Canada, Canem Systems, TD Commercial Banking, Shane Homes, d3h Hotels – Days Inn Calgary North Balzac, Protiviti, and Gail Urquhart Consulting, Rack Attack and CARF.

Thank you to My Auto YYC for providing our Early Bird registration prize, and to every donor who contributed to our silent auction.

A special thank you to our partners, Rogers Communications Birdies for Kids, presented by AltaLink. Through their matching program, every dollar raised went even further to support youth mental health.

Be sure to save the date for McMan’s 5th Annual Tee Up to Connect Charity Golf Tournament at the Hamptons on July 28th, 2027. We look forward to seeing you there!

On Overdose Awareness Day, we remember those whose lives have been lost to overdose and stand with individuals, families, and communities affected by substance use.

This day is an opportunity to lead with compassion, reduce stigma, and strengthen our commitment to connection, support, and action. Together, we can help create communities where people feel supported, understood, and empowered to seek help.

For Sarah, having her own home brought something she had rarely experienced before: peace, security, and stability.

After years of housing instability and homelessness, Sarah joined McMan’s Hope Homes, a CHF-funded housing program that supports youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness. With help from her support team, she secured a home at Hope Heights and began building a future on her own terms.

Her story is a reminder that stable housing can be the foundation for lasting change.
