📣 The Knowledge Crisis: How did we get here and what can we do?

Join us at the 2026 Woodrow Lloyd Lecture for Tim Caulfield’s talk on the effects of misinformation and how we can effectively move forward

Our information environment is increasingly chaotic and filled with misleading, harmful, and exploitive contents. This reality is a defining characteristic of our time. And research tells us it is doing tangible harm – to public health, mental health, public discourse, personal relationships, policy development, and public trust. How did we get here, why do people believe, and what can we do about it? In this provocative presentation Professor Caulfield will explore what the most recent evidence tells us about the nature and source of the current infodemic. He will also provide science-informed recommendations to cut through the noise and forge a constructive path forward. This is a crisis. Time to step up!

The James M. Minifie Lecture is back!

Join Canadian journalist Andrew Coyne for an informative, witty, and timely lecture hosted by the School of Journalism in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Regina titled "We'll Miss the Legacy Media When It's Gone (Though It's Not Going Anywhere)". Coyne will discuss the malignant effects of the decline of traditional media and the rise of social media; why subsidies for legacy media and regulation of social media are nevertheless bad ideas; and what instead we ought to do about each.

❗️Exciting new event!

The Faculty of Arts and the Community Engagement and Research Centre are proud to present the 2025 Stapleford Lecture with guest lecturer Dr. Carmen Robertson

Dr. Robertson will be speaking on the topic, Picturing Land: Indigenous Aesthetics on the Flatland and will revisit the intertwined Indigenous art histories of Saskatchewan through a storied lens.

A specialist in the art of Anishinaabe artist Norval Morrisseau, Dr. Robertson leads a team of researchers through the final stages of an exhaustive study of the first thirty years of his career. The recent publication Bead Talk: Indigenous Aesthetics on the Flatlands in 2024 (UMP), co-edited with Judy Anderson and Katherine Boyer and the co-curated exhibition It Runs in the Family, now on display in an Ottawa gallery that explores familial ties within Indigenous prairie art, sets the stage for this lecture. Dr. Robertson has published monographs, scholarly chapters, and essays related to Indigenous arts and visual cultural issues while also maintaining a curatorial practice.

- South Saskatchewan Community Foundation (policymaking and analysis)
- Regina Public Interest Research Group (RPIRG) (community outreach and event planning)
- Regina Flying Club (research, writing, and community outreach)
- Regina Food for Learning (research and policy development)

• Spend 8 hours per week for 13 weeks working on a specific project
• Gain practical skills in a workplace environment
• Earn 3 credits towards your degree!

Who is eligible?
• Interns must have a declared major in a Faculty of Arts program
• Must have completed between 54 - 90 credit hours (negotiable) at the end of the semester in which you are applying, which MUST include at least 12 credit hours in your major;
• Must have a satisfactory academic standing, with a program GPA of at least 70%
