We are currently working to establish a Decolonization, Cultural Safety, and Accessibility Committee that will guide the NPNA in identifying and addressing colonial and oppressive systems within the organization, its programs, and community relations. The committee will focus on creating equitable, diverse, and accessible practices within the NPNA.

As we establish the committee, we are looking for board and community members who want to contribute to culturally-safer and accessible practices, initiatives, and engagement in the community. In particular, we are looking for members who are:

- Newcomers to Canada
- People of the Global Majority
- Black, Indigenous, or Persons of Color (BIPOC)
- Members of the q***r, trans, or part of the LGBTQ2S+ communities
- Neurodiverse, disabled, Deaf, or facing systemic barriers related to physical or developmental differences
- Have lived experience of homelessness, criminalized substance use, or criminalized mental health
- Bring knowledge of local communities and cultural practices
- Individuals from other equity-deserving groups

Participants will receive an honourarium of $25 per meeting.

If you are interested in this opportunity or in learning more about the committee, please reach out to [email protected]
