We’re honoured to be the nonprofit partner for Gregory Alan Isakov’s Toronto and Montreal concerts this month.

For every ticket sold, $1 is being donated to the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation, in memory of poet Andrea Gibson — helping support early literacy for children across Canada.

Thank you to Gregory and his team for using music to create meaningful impact beyond the stage.

We're thrilled to announce that Dr. Ripudaman Minhas and Dr. Rubeeta Gill have joined the Canadian Children's Literacy Foundation as Medical Advisors!

With over 25% of Canadian children starting school without the skills needed to learn to read, early literacy is a critical social determinant of health. Healthcare providers play a vital role in closing this gap—families who receive literacy guidance from their healthcare providers are 2.5 times more likely to read to their children.

Dr. Minhas and Dr. Gill will champion the integration of early literacy into medical education across Canada, working to:
- Lead a national steering committee to embed early literacy in medical training
- Advocate for curriculum integration in medical schools and residency programs
- Engage medical associations, training institutions, and policymakers
- Support research on the impact of early literacy promotion in healthcare

Through our Early Words/Premiers mots program—Canada's leading healthcare-based early literacy initiative—we've already trained over 1,600 healthcare providers. With Dr. Minhas and Dr. Gill's leadership, we're taking this critical work even further.

Last month, 6-year-old Olivier Cormier was given a unique project at his school, École internationale de Montréal (Primaire): find an organization that helps others and share it back with his class.

When his mother told him about the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation, Olivier immediately knew this was the organization he would choose. But he wanted to do more than just tell his classmates about CCLF: he wanted to help out.

This year, one Early Words clinic wanted to give back to the program as an expression of their gratitude. Over the nearly four years that Cedar Grove Pediatrics has been an Early Words site, the clinic has seen the program’s impact firsthand.

That’s why they decided to generously donate 10% of their Early Words book costs from their overhead.
