As part of our ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, and in recognition of 2026–2027 marking 30 years since the last residential schools closed in Canada, all of our events held in 2026 will support a different Indigenous-led charity or charities that will provide direct support to Indigenous communities.
This project holds a special place in my heart. My Grandmother and I would always talk about all the dreams she wanted to still live out when she finally retired, we were so excited to travel and create art together. However, just three months after retiring, she lost her battle to cancer. I will always regret not doing more with and for her. Thanks to my grandmother, I am a proud member of the Beardy's & Okemasis band in Duck Lake, SK, where majority of my family still resides.
My grandmother was stripped of her Native status twice during her lifetime due to the extremely unjust Indian Act. Despite everything meant to keep her down, she continued to work towards her higher education and entered a career as a Licensed Nurse. She was one of the most inspiring women I have ever met, and continues to be my idol.
This project is in memory of my grandmother, my great grandmother, and all other Indigenous people who have suffered from colonization, residential schools, the 60's scoop, and continued societal disadvantages steaming from the Indian Act.
This project aims at providing a platform to prmote Indigenous artists across Canada through our social media platforms, photoshoots, and at year end a special edition of featuring these artists involved in "The Red Dress Photoshoot Project" happening throughout 2026.
