We are taking a moment to have this special feature of a dear participant of our Stroke Recovery BC family who sadly passed away; our friend, Jose.

Jose was a fine artist and when we had our previous office, many of his works hung there. He had aphasia but that did not stop him and for a long time wrote a stroke survivor newsletter.

He loved taking pictures and was also a feature artist when Stroke Recovery BC previously hosted the Art After Stroke events. He also attended some of our holiday and summer get-togethers, and was a positive person to have in any room.

Jose was such an integral part of our programs for many years, and we are all saddened by the news of his passing. He is dearly missed by many. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him. 🩵🙏🏽

Our Langford Stroke Recovery Program just restarted this past Fall and has been received with so much love from the local community.

Here, two of our participants are working on Rebus Puzzles: a game to train the brain in lateral thinking and cognitive flexibility. This helps to gently force combining visual clues and language rules to break standard reading habits, translating symbols and spatial arrangements into hidden words or idioms.
