September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today, we honour, recognize, and remember the Survivors of residential schools, their families, the communities navigating loss, and the children who never returned home.

Together, let’s continue to learn and reflect on the impacts of residential schools, and commit to recognizing and celebrating the contributions and voices of Indigenous peoples in our communities as we walk together toward reconciliation. 🧡

There are many ways we can engage in truth and reconciliation:
- Wear an orange shirt in recognition of Orange Shirt Day
- Learn about and acknowledge the Indigenous territories on which we live and gather
- Learn about Indigenous history and the residential school system
- Attend local events dedicated to Truth and Reconciliation and create space for learning and reflection.

At the beginning of May, the St. Albert Sturgeon Community Foundation, with the generosity of its donors, sponsored Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program with the Morinville Community Library.

The Foundation was proud to present them with $4,620 in support of 100 children in the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program. This program provides free books every month to children from birth to age 5 — a mission Dolly created to inspire children to read, learn, and dream.

We are grateful to our donors, partners, and supporters who made it possible for us to support this program this spring, as well as the libraries in our community that provide this meaningful opportunity to children and families.

Today, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is celebrating Dolly’s kindness with Give Like Dolly. We invite our community to join us in carrying on her legacy by supporting your local Imagination Library program.

Thank you Dolly, whose kindness continues to leave an impact in our communities and beyond. đź’•
