Good morning everyone! I would like to share the information about the 5th annual Bridge 2 Bridge Marathon (3/4) For Mental Health this year. All proceeds support Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Foundation and Canadian Mental Health Association of Windsor-Essex for resources, facility/program upgrades, as well as helping create more care for patients in need.

The campaign starts one week from today on Saturday, May 11th. May is mental health awareness month, and as we have learned, mental health/illness affects more people than we often realize. More details can be found on the website as well as donation, registration and the ability to pledge participants. I will be taking changing my routing this year by starting in Windsor and finishing in Belle River, opposed to the opposite routing in the previous 4 years.

I encourage all of those that may be interested, to participate at your own leisure this Spring/Summer. The event will be open for donations and pledging contributions, as well as registration on the website until August 31st. Please adhere to all rules of the road, pedestrian crossings etc. and utilize all walking paths/trails along the Riverfront. If you are starting at the Ambasdafor Bridge like myself, follow the Riverfront Trail in Windsor along the River, which connects to the newly extended and improved pathways throughout Tecumseh heading East, after Ganatchio Trail. After heading into Lakeshore, there are bicycle paths on Old Tecumseh Rd. and subsequently, cottage roads as you proceed through Puce by heading North on Puce Rd., after the vehicle bridge on County Rd. 22. Then continue East down Lilydale Ave. as the street names change, until the finish point at the vehicle bridge on Notre Dame St. in Belle River. If you follow the traditional route and start in Belle River, follow the same path, but opposite direction by heading West toward Windsor.

The Ironworkers Local 700 Bridge 2 Bridge Marathon of Health is only ONE WEEK AWAY! This year, there will be an information display booth for 5/19 day, presented by BB Branded, providing resources for mental health programs, services, classes, support groups etc. at Devonshire Mall next to Lululemon and RW & Co. There will also be giveaways of WIN CITY x B2B shirts as well as other BB Branded, 519er and WIN CITY merch.

Please show any form of support by spreading the word, pledging, donating or participating in the events, virtually or in person. The Bridge 2 Bridge, half marathon, 10K, 5K, 1K distances can be completed by running, walking, cycling, scootering and any other creative ways. I encourage members of our community to enjoy the scenic view that our waterfront trails offer, the Vitamin D of Spring and the combination of exercise to alleviate mental stress and improve their health on many levels.

All participation is appreciated and helps raise awareness for mental health.

Take the challenge and help a great cause.

May is upon us and so is Mental Health Awareness Month. On Friday May 19th (519 Day), I (Josh Horan), will run the 20 mile distance from the Belle River Bridge to the Ambassador Bridge. Thank you to all of the generous sponsors and continued support from the Windsor-Essex community!

The primary goal of this endeavour is to raise funds for the mental health programs, services and resources of: Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation, Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare, and Canadian Mental Health Association. Additionally, an equally significant contribution of the campaign is to raise awareness for the importance of positive mental health.

I would like to encourage anyone that is able to exercise their body at any skill level or range, to participate for a great cause and engage their mind by releasing the endorphins that follow a workout. An added bonus would be getting active on a nice, sunny day, with vitamin D and plenty of other benefits that come from being outside. If you would like to participate in any of the variety of different distances by either; walking, strolling, running, cycling etc. you can register on the website by following the link below.

Distances include: the full Bridge 2 Bridge (20 mile/32 km), half marathon (13.1 mile), 10K, 5K, 1K.

Today is the day! Ronnie Bondy is currently taking on the Bridge 2 Bridge, only with his own twist! Ronnie is stepping up the challenge with the B2B2B!!! From the bridge in Belle River to the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor… AND BACK.

The 13 year old* boy from Lakeshore has many personal goals and challenges set in his well endowed running career. Ronnie hopes to complete 100km is a single session one day, and today will be one of his greatest challenges yet with a hopeful 65km route. Follow the live tracker and if you happen to see Ronnie and his father Brian Brian R. Bondy along Riverside Dr. or Old Tecumseh Rd. along the waterfront, please send some encouragement and positive support.
