The winner of the Screen Nova Scotia Best Documentary award goes to "Apex: The Black Masters" by A+B Roll Films.

"Apex: The Black Masters" is a documentary that traces the 50-year story of the Apex Invitational Golf Tournament in Truro, Nova Scotia. Showing how it grew from a small 1974 meetup of Black golfers into a major, inclusive homecoming that honours African Nova Scotian culture.

Congratulations to George Ash, for having the best score on holes 2-7
(the island 9) during the Apex golf tournament. Every year they will present this new award in memory of Mr. Foster Paris 🤝🏾

This Award respectfully represents the life & spirit of Mr.Paris & what he meant to his Friends & Family within the Apex & Golf Community .

Massive congratulations to this year’s Apex champs: Arnie Morris and Christine Parris 🏆

Arnie came from behind after Day 1 to shoot a 73 and take the tournament title.

Christine, trailing by a few strokes, stepped into the top spot on Day 2 to secure a win for the women’s division.

This is both of their first overall wins! 👏🏽

Proceeds from both events go to the Apex Scholarship Fund.

This past weekend, we celebrated the life of a legend.

It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of long-standing Apex Committee member, Foster Paris.

Foster was an integral part of Apex for over three decades. A passionate golfer, a pillar of the community, and a friend to all—he was truly one of a kind and his presence will be deeply missed.

On behalf of the Apex Committee, we send our heartfelt condolences to the Paris family.

And thank you, Foster—for your years of service, unwavering friendship, and the joy and laughter you brought to every gathering.

Your legacy will live on.

Introducing a special memento commemorating our 50th…

The Apex Golf Committee is creating a calendar (calendar year 2026). This calendar will incorporate photos from the various events of the 50th anniversary, tournament photos from Apex 2024 and prior years, and red carpet pictures taken at the premiere of Apex: The Black Masters.

The price of the calendar is $10.00 and we are currently accepting pre-orders.

To order your calendar/calendars, please contact Apex member, Ardith Jordan-Simmonds, at [email protected], or Apex chair, Kevin Jackson, at [email protected].

Orders are pickup only (for residents outside Truro) and can be picked up during this year’s tournament. For local orders, you will be contacted once the calendars are completed and received by Apex.

Please note this is not a profit-making initiative, but rather something we feel that people will want to keep to remember 50 years of community and golf history.

The time has come!

Apex 2025 will take place on August 1st & 2nd, and the first wave of registration launched last night.

⚠️ As a reminder, we are using a 2-wave registration process to minimize the administrative workload.

The first wave will include those golfers who have played each of the last 4 years: 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 (meaning you have actually played golf and did not withdraw and/or receive a refund).

If you’re in the first wave, you should have already received an email. The second wave (launching mid-late April) will include all remaining golfers.
