BRTCC - Black Russian Terrier Club of Canada

BRTCC - Black Russian Terrier Club of Canada The Black Russian Terrier Club of Canada (BRTCC) is a National Breed Club managed by a Board of Directors. BRTCC is accredited by Canadian Kennel Club.

Dear BRT owners,
We are inviting you to join the Black Russian Terrier Club of Canada (BRTCC). The BRTCC is a non-profit organization and the national BRT club recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). Our goal is to preserve the breed we love in its entirety and promote BRTs to the general public. One way we promote the breed is by sponsoring and participating in shows and performance events

throughout Canada. As you may know our breed is fully recognized by many national kennels including the American Kennel Club (AKC), but in Canada BRTs are currently a ‘listed’ breed awaiting full recognition. We continue to seek this full status with the CKC (Canada’s official pure breed dog registry) and our club is seeking volunteers to join us in supporting this magnificent breed. We hold educational seminars and workshops for BRT owners and organize our annual National Specialty. In addition we network through social events such as barbeques and dog fun days. We support one another and mentor BRT owners in every aspect of the breed (grooming and coat care, raising a puppy, training, socializing, exhibiting in shows and competing in performance events.) In 2015 the BRTCC is planning a National Specialty in Quebec, a booster show in Alberta, fundraising events in Ontario, and two seminar/workshops. We are implementing annual BRTCC Awards for all top BRTs (BRTCC member owned or co-owned) in Canada. These awards will recognize various performance modalities, conformation achievements, health initiatives, community service/therapy work, and other volunteer activities. The BRTCC's newsletter is published and e-mailed to our members three times a year with news, achievements, interesting articles, and of course pictures of BRTs. To learn more about the BRTCC please visit our website at www.brtcc.org
Our members adhere to the club’s Constitution and Code of Ethics. If you are interested in joining us, please send your "Membership Application Form"

Congratulations to all recipients of the 2025 BRTCC Volunteer of the Year Award!

Our club exists and thrives because of dedicated volunteers who generously give their time, energy, skills, and support throughout the year. Whether helping at events, serving on committees, supporting members, promoting our breed, or stepping in wherever needed, each of these individuals has made a meaningful contribution to the Black Russian Terrier community.

Thank you for your hard work, commitment, and willingness to help whenever called upon. Your efforts often happen behind the scenes, but they are deeply appreciated and do not go unnoticed.

On behalf of all BRTCC members, congratulations and thank you to our 2025 Volunteers of the Year. This recognition is well deserved, and we are grateful for everything you do for our club and our breed.

BRTCC National Specialty 2026 may have had a smaller entry this year, but what it lacked in numbers, it more than made up for in warmth, friendship, and true BRT spirit.

With fewer litters over the past couple of years, several dogs now retired, and others busy with family duties, our entry was small — but our gathering was anything but. We had a wonderful day together, a friendly and supportive atmosphere, great company, beautiful dogs, and a delicious lunch shared among friends.

Congratulations to all of our winners:

A very big thank you to Maryna Tkach for taking care of the food order, and to Sergey Saveliev and Svetlana Zenina for their tremendous help with lunch. Your work and support were truly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who came, helped, showed, cheered, visited, and supported our National. These events are about more than ribbons — they are about community, commitment, and love for our breed.
