September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

Today, Rexdale Women’s Centre honours the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

This day is an opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of the residential school system. Reconciliation is an ongoing responsibility, and we encourage our community to continue learning from Indigenous voices, histories, and experiences.

As we reflect today, may we carry what we learn beyond September 30 and continue working toward respect, understanding, justice, and meaningful reconciliation.

Little Readers, Big Adventures!

Looking for a fun way to help your child strengthen their reading skills? Rexdale Women’s Centre’s after-school reading program welcomes children ages 6–9 to learn, imagine, and discover the joy of books.

Through engaging stories, new vocabulary, and creative activities, children can build confidence in a friendly, supportive space.

Are you missing summer? Our seniors certainly are!

We’re looking back at some wonderful memories from our last seniors’ trip of the summer to Jack Darling Memorial Park. It was a day filled with wading in the water, picnicking, strolling around the park and, of course, dancing with friends.

There’s nothing quite like spending a beautiful summer day outdoors with good company.

We’re Hiring! Rexdale Women’s Centre is seeking a dedicated Employment Counsellor from October 5, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

In this role, the Employment Counsellor will provide one-to-one career counselling, job search support, and employment workshops to help newcomers strengthen their skills and prepare for the job market. The Employment Counsellor will also support participants in developing career action plans, navigating barriers related to credential recognition and licensure, and connecting with employers while working with the project team to support successful job placements.

Our Seniors Support Program helps older adults feel safer, more confident, and connected while supporting their emotional well-being and reducing social isolation. Seniors can access individual counselling Monday to Thursday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Furthermore, they can register for upcoming digital literacy and fraud prevention workshops designed to help participants use technology confidently, recognize scams, and stay safe online. Thank you to everyone who joined us for Rexdale Women’s Centre’s 2026 Annual General Meeting!

Our AGM was an opportunity to bring our community together to reflect on the past year, celebrate our achievements, share important organizational updates, and look ahead to another year of supporting women and families in our community.

We were pleased to welcome Michelle Telfeyan from the Constituency Office of MPP Doug Ford, Councillor Vincent Crisanti, Cherelle Thelwell and Esther Tauhid from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), and Russ Mitchell and Amra Munawar from the Rexdale Community Hub. Thank you for joining us and for your continued support of Rexdale Women’s Centre and our community.

We are also grateful to our members, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, partners, and community supporters who continue to make RWC’s work possible.

Our strength is amplified through our partnerships.

Through our partnership with BabyLove, Rexdale Women’s Centre is helping families in our community access free diapers for their children. For families facing financial pressures, the cost of everyday essentials can quickly add up. By helping meet this basic need, we can ease some of that pressure and support mothers as they work to build healthy, stable lives for their children.

We are grateful to BabyLove for working alongside us to support families in our community.

We’re Hiring! Rexdale Women’s Centre is seeking a dedicated Youth Worker from October 5, 2026, to March 25, 2027.

In this role, the Youth Worker will engage and build connections with newcomer, immigrant, refugee, and ethno-racial youth, providing one-to-one support and organizing group activities to help youth connect with community resources and strengthen their integration into the community. The Youth Worker will also conduct outreach with schools, community organizations, grassroots networks, and other local partners while supporting youth-focused programs, events, and volunteer engagement.
