“As a parent of a son with special needs, your greatest hope is to see them thrive, grow, and find their own place in the world. Thanks to the incredible funding and support from the LIGHTS organization, that hope has become our reality.

With their backing, he has been able to transition into supported independent living. The change has been nothing short of miraculous. He has developed essential life skills and achieved a level of independence we honestly didn't think was possible before.

Today, he is happier, more confident, and living a deeply fulfilling life. He even has a roommate whom he absolutely adores! Seeing him smile, take pride in his space, and enjoy the freedom of supported independence is the greatest gift we could ever ask for. We are profoundly grateful to the LIGHTS organization for their life-changing assistance. Thank you for giving our son the future he deserves. You have truly changed our lives.”

Every Number Tells a Story.

At LIGHTS, every number represents a person, a family, and a journey toward greater independence.

As of March 31, 2026:

🌟 113 individuals supported in reaching their goal of independent living

🤝 109 families actively engaged with LIGHTS

🏡 61 families who have successfully transitioned from LIGHTS support

💜 638 families provided with advisory services

Behind every number is a story of growth, connection, and possibility. We are proud to support individuals and families as they build confidence, independence, and meaningful community connections.

On May 14, LIGHTS Toronto is proud to stand alongside the Moose Hide Campaign, a national, Indigenous-led movement committed to ending violence against women and children.

At LIGHTS, we believe in building a city where everyone feels safe, valued, included, and connected. Supporting Indigenous-led initiatives like the Moose Hide Campaign is an important part of creating stronger communities rooted in respect, equity, and human rights.

We encourage our community to take part by learning more about the campaign, attending Campaign Day at Queen’s Park or tuning into the live stream, wearing a Moose Hide Campaign pin, or sharing a photo to help raise awareness and spark meaningful conversations.

to Community Rocks 🎸

A few months ago, some of our LIGHTS Leaders had a blast at Community Rocks — Community Living Toronto’s major fundraising event.

It was an amazing night celebrating inclusion, community, and possibility. We were proud to be there, especially knowing that a portion of the funds raised support LIGHTS families directly.

We are already looking forward to !
