Roots of Resilience: Cultural Gala and Fundraiser for Sudan 🇸🇩🇬🇦

When: April 15th, 7:00 to 10:30 PM
Where: It’s Okay Studio, Toronto, Ontario.

What:

✨ Cultural exhibits, healing spoken word poetry, nurturing performances, storytelling, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and a silent auction/raffles. And of course delicious Sudanese cuisine and drinks!

💰 Our goal is to raise $30,000 CAD in support of SAPA, Fill-a-heart, and Darfur Women Action. Help us make a difference!

✨ This event centers Sudan and it’s diaspora, while all are welcome to apply please know priority is given to Sudanese diaspora. Titled, BLK Book Fair—Chapter II: “We’re In This Together”, this year’s event will encompass and showcase the variations in literature and related products that are produced by Afro-Canadians.

🎗In addition, and in honour of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, we are supporting an organization called The Olive Branch of Hope. Founded by cancer survivors, The Olive Branch of Hope is a “nonprofit organization that provides support, resources and programs to increase awareness about cancer and its impact within our diverse community”.

Our objective with all of our events is to demonstrate community and the power that can come from taking a collectivist approach when building anything. This event will be a combination of a book fair, food & drink, special guest speakers and networking. This is an event you don’t want to miss!

✨Full Moon = Shifts and Changes✨

We are so excited to have all of you at tomorrow's Full Moon Ceremony for Black, Indigenous, and Racialized women, femmes, and non-binary womanhood-identifying folks!

Unfortunately, .vanessa is sick and won't be able to lead tomorrow's circle, BUT do not fret because we have the wonderful who will lead the session.

A few shifts in the formating of the circle, please make note that tomorrow will be compromise of:

Journaling activity
Meditation
Self-Love Gentle Flow
Burning Ritual

Participants are asked to bring a journal and pen along with something comfortable to wear as there will be some movement.

Group processing circle with psycho-education, somatic health and breathwork to get into our somatic bodies and begin to process trauma.
Group processing may be an area deserving of more time in communities, organically through conversations, breathwork and movement, which is how TEAO has begun to address trauma care and trauma health in communities.

TEAO Canada will hold space for participants, led by Nicole Brown Faulknor — as both an embodiment coach and psychotherapist. Nicole will explore somatic practices as well, as a way to support rebuilding a relationship with our bodies through these symptoms and a place to be heard and loved in places of systems and institutions and why your emotional health is our mental health.

These circles will incorporate psycho-education, somatic health and breathwork to get participants in their somatic bodies to begin to process trauma. We are coming together in somatic movement during the group processing circle so that debriefing, trauma care and systemic care can be processed.
