Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine Toronto-based, all-volunteer marine search and rescue unit. Proud members of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine (T-SAR) is a Toronto-based, all-volunteer marine search and rescue unit. Its primary mission is to improve safety in Toronto's waters by helping people in distress and in danger, and preventing loss of life and damage to property, through education and outreach programs. Toronto Search and Rescue’s objectives are as follows:
Save 100% of lives at risk Reduce the number and severity of SAR incidents

Promote marine safety and environmental protection, especially among children and youth, via the education system, and adults through public education programs via service clubs, interest groups, power and sail clubs and community events

Support the Toronto Marine Police Unit and the Canadian Coast Guard on a day-to-day basis, and during special events such as the 2015 Pan AM Games, and the Toronto International Air Show

Create an internship program to support an online academic resource centre, and community events

Provide a humanitarian service

Host an annual Search and Rescue forum

Maintain the highest professional standards

Promote dedication and service to our community and all who need us


This mission and these objectives will be achieved by on-water and 24-hour on-call patrol, education and Search and Rescue activities during the boating season, and by community service outreach programs with schools, service clubs and community organizations throughout the year.

It was wonderful that Her honour Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario stopped by the Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine, Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central and Arctic Inc. booth today at the Canadian International Air show.
It was wonderful to see her again.

Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central and Arctic Inc. Units often face conditions like this when they receive a tasking for a rescue.

Members of Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary National Inc. are volunteers who are dedicated to the safety of others on the water.

Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine just completed four emergency taskings on one shift, which is a record for our unit.

Bravo Zulu to those officers who rescued these two 14-year-old boys.

Too often, Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central and Arctic Inc., Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine, and our sister Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary National Inc. units have rescued people who were in floaties not designed for open water, such as Lake Ontario. Be safe! Always wear your approved PFD. It will save your life.

** The Kingston Whig-Standard**
Two teenagers are safely on shore after their makeshift raft made out of pool floaties blew away from shore.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the incident happened on the civic holiday Monday.

Officers said they spotted an object low in the water between Kingston and Wolfe Island.

With the help of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, they were able to rescue the pair who weren’t wearing lifejackets.

The teens were safely returned to their grateful grandparents.

Busy and precarious evening on the water today for Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine, a proud member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central and Arctic Inc.

Departed dock at roughly 19:15. The Outer harbour teaming with activity, lots of paddlers, kayaks, small sailing vessels.

Tasking # 1
1 POB, Laser, Lee shore, rigging failure, Tow

Tasking # 2
1 adult, 1 child, paddle board, unable to continue paddling, transported to shore

Tasking #3
2 adults, on inflatable dingy, unable to continue, lee shore,
Transported to shore.

Major MAYDAY call happening on Lake Erie during this time, 3 missing Paddle Boarders.

Thankfully they were found, 9 miles from shore.

Bravo Zulu to the crew and Coxswain for their hard work and dedication to keeping people safe on the water.
