It is with profound sadness that SUTA Toronto Chapter announces the passing of Dr. Jahangir (Jahan) Tavakkoli, a respected member of our community and a cherished individual who was deeply admired for his kindness, intellect, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Dr. Tavakkoli's contributions to the Iranian and engineering communities will forever be remembered. His dedication, both as a professional and as a valued member of our association, inspired many and left an enduring legacy.

The burial service for Dr. Tavakkoli will take place on:

Location: Emam Mahdi Centre, 7340 Bayview Ave, Thornhill

Burial to follow at 12:00 PM at Elgin Mills Cemetery, located at 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill.

Our hearts and prayers are with Dr. Tavakkoli's family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

With profound sadness, we share the news of Mr. Changiz Sadr’s passing in Toronto two days ago. His loss is deeply felt by our community and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mr. Sadr was more than just a dedicated engineer; he was a visionary whose passion and commitment to excellence touched many lives. His innovative spirit and significant contributions to the engineering profession, recognized by honors such as the Most Dedicated Communications Engineering Consultant in Ontario and the Canada Sovereign's Medal, will forever be remembered.

We mourn the loss of an extraordinary leader and a cherished member of our community. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

In Remembrance of Victims of Flight PS752

January 8th marks the anniversary of the violent downing of the Ukrainian flight PS752 in the skies of Tehran, Iran, killing all 176 passengers on board minutes after its take-off.

The heart-wrenching grief of the families who have lost their loved ones; a wife, husband, child, friend, neighbor or colleague has never ceased and the reason for this senseless perish never clarified.

We are in deep sympathy with all families in bereavement, and share in the pain and sadness of losing 55 fellow Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents who were suddenly taken away from us.

We are in grief with the mourning families and friends as the immensity of this loss hits closer to our homes and hearts. The enormity of the absence of these individuals who were zealous philanthropists, academicians, business owners, scientists, scholars, researchers, students, newlyweds coming to their first home and beloved innocent children has deeply impacted the Iranian-Canadian community and scarred numerous other communities around the globe. The effect of this loss transcends boundaries of localities and proximity of relationships. It links acquaintances as friends and friends of friends.

On the anniversary of the violently targeted Ukrainian flight taking off from Tehran on January 8, 2020 and in remembrance of the lives lost tragically, we, the undersigned stand united and in solidarity with families and friends of the victims of flight PS752 until they find resolution and justice to this most blatant loss that they have experienced.
