Today we honour this one shared home. 🌍

On Earth Day, we’re reminded that creativity is not separate from the Earth—it’s rooted in it.

Every story we tell, every movement we build, every piece of art we create carries the memory of rivers, soil, and sky. Let’s choose to create with care, to imagine futures where communities and ecosystems thrive together, and to protect what continues to give us life.

We begin this year’s happening with Mother Lines: Mandala Mapping — The Women Who Shaped Us, a guided creative experience with

Through mandala-making, reflection, and storytelling, we’ll trace the invisible threads that connect us to the women who came before us — mothers, grandmothers, chosen family, and ancestral lines that continue to live within us.

This is an invitation to remember, reimagine and create from your own story.

No experience needed — just come as you are.

We carry forward what is woven by hand and shaped by earth.

In Pijao, the art of esterilla speaks of patience and ancestry.

In Quimbaya, clay becomes memory, fire becomes transformation.

During our Community Arts Residence, we met extraordinary talents and people doing deeply impactful work — guardians of tradition, builders of peace.

This is how legacy lives.

We’ll be sharing more from this journey in the coming days ✨

Quimbaya · Art-based Community Engagement 🌿🎶

We gathered with children to explore a different way of learning—through sound, presence, and the living landscape around us.

Young ears opening to the world,
young voices discovering that every sound
is a story waiting to be heard. 🌊✨

We shared a beautiful experience with a group of young creatives— hands curious, hearts open, imaginations wide. ✨

Artists and children working side by side,
shaping stories with color, sound, and laughter.

These images hold the magic of making together—
a reminder that the future is already imagining itself. 🌱

Legacy & Peace

Images of our first day together—participants gathering, listening and creating. 🌱

Our first workshop with Paula Gómez and our second workshop with Paola Gómez opened space for reflection, shared memory, and collective imagination around legacy and peace.

We are deeply grateful to Julián Carmona for a powerful and meaningful workshop exploring sound and expression, where listening became the tool for connection.

This residency is a living process—rooted in community, care, and the belief that art can hold history while shaping gentler futures. ✨

Meet the Artist ✨

My name is Alex Usquiano. I am a Toronto-based visual artist originally from Colombia, with over twenty years of experience exploring diverse artistic languages. My multidisciplinary practice brings together painting, performance, drawing, and photography, allowing me to continually experiment while reflecting on themes of identity, culture, and transformation.

As both an artist and educator, I am deeply committed to inspiring others to connect with their creativity. I work closely with children and youth, supporting them in expressing themselves through art and discovering its potential as a tool for personal growth and empowerment. Alongside my artistic practice, I work as a freelance photographer and graphic designer, merging creative vision with technical expertise to craft compelling visual narratives.

I am also the co-founder and Artistic Director of MUSE Arts, a community arts organization dedicated to promoting social justice through creative practice. Through this work, I seek to create inclusive spaces where communities can engage, collaborate, and find their voices through artistic expression.

For me, art is more than a profession—it is a way of building connections, inspiring change, and celebrating diversity.
