Can you SEE the joy in this photo?? After being separated from her family, and spending years in an orphanage, we reunited Elena with her mom and younger siblings this week. We love knitting families back together, and giving children the chance to experience love, safety and belonging.😍

Did you know? We try to find a permanent loving family for every child in our emergency family care program within six months? Sometimes this means reuniting a child with a relative, and other times it means planning for adoption, in many cases, with the child's foster family. This year, you have helped us to reunite four children with their relatives and make progress on finding permanent families for eight more children recently placed in our care. ❤️💜💙💚😊

This month, we welcomed four new children into emergency foster care: two abandoned babies, and two children suffering abuse. All four have been matched with foster families as we work to find them permanent families of their own.

We love helping families thrive. Like Harriet's. A mother to five children, we helped her with two goats so she could better care for her young family. The goat manure has improved her garden, and she is able to sell the fruits of her harvest, milk, and kids from her goats to support her family. With her new income, Harriet has bought books, pencils and uniforms so her children can start attending school regularly.

This week we are working with authorities to rescue and admit three new children to our emergency foster care program: an abandoned baby and two abused children. Your support helps each child have a medical visit, receive clothing, bedding and other practical support, and get the legal and social-emotional support they need to settle into their foster families.

This year, you have helped care for seventy-one children in foster care! Some children are in our care temporarily as we work to trace and reunite them with their relatives, and others are waiting for the courts to approve their adoptions. Whether children are with us for a few nights or a few years, all are safe and on the path to a permanent loving family. 🥰

Yesterday was World Down Syndrome Day: a day to raise awareness and celebrate children living with Down Syndrome. Sadly, children with Down Syndrome and other disabilities are at much higher risk of being separated from their families and placed in orphanages. There, most face abuse and neglect, and many do not survive. Few get the specialized services they need. We believe that every child belongs in a family and actively include, support and celebrate children and families living with disabilities.

We believe in the power of mothers. Like Pauline. A young mom, she joined our microfinance program to build a brighter future for her young family. By saving in her group each week and investing in small family businesses, she has saved up enough to build her and her children a home! The family no longer risks eviction, and now has a permanent house of their own. Pauline has also planted a garden at her new house, providing her family with food and additional income.

So far this year, you have helped us rescue six abandoned and abused children. All are currently in the care of our loving local foster families, and we trace for their relatives. Because of you, these babies and toddlers were kept out of an orphanage and will be reunited with relatives or adopted by local families!

We are sorry for not sending regular updates! Our ED was in Uganda for six weeks and unable to connect to our FB page. We are now back online and your donations are still hard at work.

In the last two months, you have helped:

✔ Give over 1,472 parents and 4,701 children access family strengthening services, such as economic empowerment, medical care, emergency assistance and legal aid;
✔ Provide life-saving medical care, milk and supplements to 32 malnourished babies;
✔ Rescue five babies and toddlers, and match them with safe and loving local families (and helped dozens more children with emergency and long-term foster care); AND
✔ Provide legal aid to dozens of families facing violence, resulting in 5 criminal convictions!
