Physical Lifestyles for Autistic Youth

Physical Lifestyles for Autistic Youth PLAY is a non-profit agency dedicated to facilitating the well-being of Youths living with Autism.

The PLAY program consists of two components: In class training sessions and an online destination that hosts virtual training sessions. These components are supported by ongoing awareness initiatives that provide a valuable resource to Autistic Youth and their families, while demystifying myths and stigma associated with Autism within the community. Designed under the gu

idance of experts in the field of Autism, health care
professionals, and our Athletic Director, PLAY’s in class training sessions facilitate
the development of social and motor skills. Led by PLAY’s Athletic Director and the support team, Autistic Youth engage in a series of fundamental activities associated with organized sports. As members of the in class training sessions, Autistic Youth are able to live lifestyles that build confidence and the skills to engage with peers and the community. Online Destination
Leveraging the reach of the internet, www.playinc.org is slated to become the
go to resource for information on Autism. In addition to hosting the virtual training sessions where members are given the
opportunity to participate in the same activities from their home via video and
live streaming as the in class training sessions, playinc.org will house a
comprehensive directory and network needed to fulfill healthy lifestyles for
families living with Autism.

The autistic Barbie is thoughtfully designed to reflect some of the ways autistic children may experience and interact with the world. 🌍👧

From side-gazing eyes and bendable limbs for stimming, to sensory-friendly accessories like a fidget spinner, noise-cancelling headphones and a communication tablet, every detail has meaning.

Barbie has been around since 1959, but disability representation only began in 2019. Toys like this help children feel seen, understood and proud of who they are. 🌈🌻
