Founded in 1909 as the Canadian Guild of Organists, the RCCO is Canada’s oldest musicians’ association. Today, the RCCO is a nationwide interdenominational community of professional and amateur organists, church musicians, choral conductors, and others sharing an interest in the organ and church music. The Toronto Centre is the largest centre in the country and each year offers a variety of progra

mmes from recitals and workshops to social gatherings. The RCCO assists its members in the development and practice of fine organ and choral performance and sound church
musicianship, and works to promote these interests in the wider Canadian public. It also provides members with advice and information in matters pertaining to church employment, both through its National and Centre professional concerns officers and a nationwide network of colleagues. Examinations are held annually for the diplomas of Colleague, Associate, Fellow, and Choir Directing, and the certificates in Service Playing and Choir Training, all of which test and provide recognition for achievement in organ performance and musical knowledge. Yearly RCCO festivals offer opportunities to hear and meet world-class recitalists and clinicians from Canada and abroad, to participate in workshops on a wide variety of topics, and to discuss subjects of mutual interest and concern with friends and colleagues. The RCCO’s National Office publishes ORGAN CANADA/ORGUE CANADA, furnishing a uniquely Canadian perspective on the College’s life and work. The National Office also offers a wide range of resources including audio/video tapes and printed material covering topics such as: service planning; wedding music; choir training; recommended salary levels for church musicians; and the purchase, maintenance, and improvement of all types of organs. Do not miss the Young Organists' Concert, this Saturday April 25, 3pm, at Grace Church on-the-Hill! The RCCO - Toronto Centre is proud to organize this special event where young organists can connect with their peers, and have the chance to perform at the beginning of their career. Come discover the talented performers representing the new generation of organists in Toronto, in a beautiful acoustic, and come meet lots of organists! Event is by freewill donations, and all proceeds will go to the RCCO - Toronto Centre, which allows us to flesh out full seasons of events and concerts each year, and build a vibrant community for organists and lovers of organ music! Come celebrate International Day at Grace Church on-the-Hill (300 Lonsdale Rd), on Saturday April 25 at 3pm! This concert, presented by the RCCO - Toronto Centre, will feature wonderful young performers from Toronto's new generation of organists. Admission by freewill donations, the proceeds will go to the RCCO - Toronto Centre. See you there!

The Bach Walk 2026 is this Saturday! We are thrilled to have a stellar line-up of artists including Daniel Bickle of Music at St. Andrew's performing at 1pm, Aaron James and friends from the Trinity Bach Project (Louise Friesen, Andrea Ludwig, Veronika Muggeride, Jamie Tuttle, David Yung, Junia Friesen) performing at St. James Cathedral, Toronto at 2pm, and Jonathan Oldengarm at Metropolitan United Church at 3pm! A reception with cake will follow the 3pm concert!

Our annual RCCO Bach Walk is happening next Saturday, March 21, to celebrate Bach's birthday! Please start the journey with us at 1pm at the St-Andrew's Presbyterian Church, then walk to the St-James Cathedral for another 2pm concert, and finish at the Metropolitan United Church at 3pm for a final performance! Followed as usual with a celebratory birthday cake 🎂 In the meantime, here's a throwback to last year's Bach Walk!

It was wonderful to see over 40 conductors and choral singers at our first RCCO Toronto Centre event of 2026: Deep River: A Workshop on Afrocentric Sacred Repertoire with Brainerd Blyden-Taylor.

We are especially grateful to Christ Church Deer Park for allowing us the use of their beautiful space (which is available as a rehearsal, concert and event venue at affordable rates).

Special thanks also to all the RCCO volunteers who supported this event, and to collaborative pianist Conrad Gold and guest choral musicians Kaisha Lee, Karen Weigold, Ben Macdonald and Andrew Gunpath.

It was a joy to explore many afro-centric sacred choral pieces including several by the Canadian great Nathaniel Dett, all just in time for Black History Month.

Tonight at Holy Family Church, a program of music for the rarely heard combination of flute and organ, presented by Charmaine Bacon from RCCO Winnipeg Centre and organist Aaron James. The program features works by the great organ virtuoso Rolande Falcinelli, professor of organ at the Paris Conservatoire and the first woman to hold a titular organist position at one of the major churches in Paris (at Sacré Cœur).
