Our Mission

The Churchill Society for the Advancement of Parliamentary Democracy is a non-partisan, charitable organization that honours the life of Sir Winston Churchill by facilitating education, discussion and debate about Canada's parliamentary democracy. Formed in Toronto, Ontario in 1982, we are named after former British prime minister Sir Winston Churchill, one of the greatest Parliamentarians of all time.

We are pleased to announce that The Honourable Dalton McGuinty, former Premier of Ontario, will be the 2026 recipient of the Churchill Society’s Award for Excellence in the Cause of Parliamentary Democracy.

A former Premier, parliamentarian, author, and public servant, Mr. McGuinty’s career has been marked by significant contributions to education, health care, environmental stewardship, and democratic governance.

The award will be presented at our gala dinner on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at The Quay in Toronto.
