CRRS Toronto

The funds raised during the 2003 Gala event (ex. expenses) were submitted for the "Basic Education" and the "Teacher Certification" Projects. Participation and donations for the annual fundraising gala have increased each year. Currently, we have expanded our projects to focus on:
1. Student Basic Education
Over the years, the project expanded from elementary school to high school / vocational

school, university-level studies and even medical school.

2. Teacher Certification
Many teachers benefited from this project and achieved certified teacher status. Some managed to attend higher certification – Master and Doctorate Degree programs.

3. Focal Project
In 2007, the Toronto Chapter established a focal pilot project which provides various modernized facilities at 'Rongshui Second High School'. Within a few years, the project has developed a computer laboratory, a language laboratory and a library. The Resource Centre now offers modern technologies to the surrounding rural regions which enriches children's education.

4. Building and Repairing Schools
Financial support was given to build new schools and school facilities, and to repair / renovate existing schools.

5. “Project Shine”
Beginning in the summer of 2008, “Project Shine” sends Canadian youth to the rural villages of Guangxi to teach English. These 'cultural exchange' trips give the Canadian youth an opportunity to experience a deeper sense about life. The project also stimulates young people to care for and to serve the underprivileged.
