Sunday morning, July 12 - the Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise and Friends prepared over 100 nutritious meals for our homeless neighbors at the Fort York Food Bank. And as we always do, we enjoyed each others' company and had a lot of fun doing this! Tuna sandwiches, salad and fresh fruit - apples or oranges - today. Good food for a hot day!

Thanks to everyone who volunteered, including in addition to Rotary Toronto Sunrise members, Owyn from FYFB, Brenda's friend Lori from Niagara Falls, Mal and team from the Rotaract D7070 E-Club, and the folks from Rotaract Toronto. Big thanks to Blackbird Baking Co for the bread, and to all FYFB's food donors. And Bruce for the emergency mayonnaise and salad dressing run...

This is an AMAZING way to spend a Sunday morning - a lot of fun and working with others who share our desire to help our less fortunate neighbors. We always leave feeling tired but very good about what we've done.

We would love for you to join us! We do this the second Sunday of every month, from 9:00am - 1:00pm or any part of that you can offer. No cooking skills required! The Fort York Food Bank is at 380 College Street, at Borden. There's a TTC streetcar stop on the 506 Carlton right at Borden, and it's only 2 blocks from the 511 Bathurst streetcar at College. And there is free street parking (yes, in Toronto!) on College Sunday mornings until 1:00pm.

Rotary Toronto Sunrise and Friends cook at Fort York Food Bank June 14 😊

Sunday morning, June 14, at the Fort York Food Bank in downtown Toronto, the Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise and Friends prepared over 100 hot and nutritious meals for our homeless and marginally housed neighbors and friends.

And as you will see from our pictures, below, we had a lot of fun and enjoyed each other's company while doing this 🙂

Part of the fun is that we never know when we arrive what food we will have - and a big thanks to all our food donors! - so we plan menus on the spot. Today we were able to offer roast chicken, hot roast potatoes and carrots, fresh salad with our own made-on-the-spot dressing, and a fresh apple for everyone.

A big thanks to everyone who came and helped prep, cook, pack food and clean up - we couldn't do this without you!

And a special thanks to Megan, the Chair of the Fort York Food Bank's Kitchen Committee, for her hard work and leadership 🙂

Over 120 hot and nutritious meals to make a bright but cold spring day better for our homeless and marginally housed neighbors and friends :)

Sunday morning, May 10, at the Fort York Food Bank in downtown Toronto, the Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise and Friends prepared over 120 hot and nutritious meals for our homeless and marginally housed neighbors and friends - on a bright but cold Spring day in the City.

And as you will see from our pictures, below, we had a lot of fun and enjoyed each other's company while doing this 🙂
And some REALLY big carrots and onions this week!

Part of the fun is that we never know when we arrive what food we will have - and a big thanks to all our food donors! - so we plan menus on the spot. Today we were able to offer roast chicken, hot roast potatoes carrots and onions, and fresh cucumber salad with our own made-on-the-spot dressing.

Fort York Food Bank April 12 2026

Over 120 hot and nutritious meals to make a wet spring day a little better for our homeless and marginally housed neighbours and friends ❤️

On Sunday morning, April 12, at the Fort York Food Bank in downtown Toronto, the Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise and Friends prepared over 120 hot and nutritious meals for our homeless and marginally housed neighbours and friends - on a wet early Spring day in the City.

And as you will see from our pictures, below, we had a lot of fun and enjoyed each other's company while doing this 😊

Part of the fun is that we never know when we arrive what food we will have - and a big thanks to all our food donors! - so we plan menus on the spot. Today we were able to offer hot popcorn chicken, salad with fresh cucumbers, carrots, Monterey Jack cheese, and our own made-on-the-spot dressing, and hot roast potatoes with caramelized onions.

Thank you ❤️ to everyone who supported the Rotary Toronto Sunrise Stompers in the Coldest Night of the Year in support of the Fort York Food Bank!

As you’ll see from photos, Stompin’ Teddy had a great time cheering 📣 on chilly 🥶 walkers, thanking the route volunteers, serving coffee with the fabulous Starbucks team, and chilling 😎 with the dedicated Toronto firefighters 🚒.

And as you will see from our pictures, we had a lot of fun and enjoyed each other's company while doing this :)

On Sunday, January 11, The Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise and Friends prepared and served 120 hot meals at the Fort York Food Bank for our homeless and marginally housed friends and neighbors. Thanks to everyone who helped! Community support like this is needed now more than ever, and those receiving these hot meals really appreciate them.
We will be doing this again on Sunday morning, February 8, from 9:00am-1:00pm. We would love to welcome new volunteers! The Fort York Food Bank is at 380 College Street, at Borden. There is a TTC streetcar stop at Borden and there is free parking on College Street Sunday until 1:00pm. On Sunday, December 14, 12 amazing volunteers prepared hot meals for over 100 of our homeless and marginally housed friends and neighbors at the Fort York Food Bank on College Street in downtown Toronto. A special thanks to Liz Compton and Shaffu Sharma of the Rotary Club of Toronto Leaside, the great folks at BioPed Toronto-North York, and Rotaract Toronto for helping on a day when several of our Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise regulars were not able to be there. It is a wonderful adventure finding out when we arrive what food is available and creating a hot, nutritious meal from that, and this Sunday's team, and meal, was amazing. Thank you all!
