Barbados Canada Association

Barbados Canada Association BBCA is a not-for-profit organization formed in 2004 that is dedicated to supporting the Barbadian community in Canada and Barbados.

Barbados Canada Association (formerly Barbados Ball Canada Aid) is a not-for-profit organization formed in 2003 that is dedicated to supporting the Barbadian community in Canada and Barbados. We are a membership organization consisting of Barbadian organizations in Canada, Barbadian nationals living in Canada and friends of Barbados. BBCA provides scholarships to Barbadian youth attending college

and university in Canada, donates vital medical equipment to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados and supports healthcare programs and services in Canada and Barbados. We also assist Barbadians in need and recognize outstanding Barbadians in Canada for their accomplishments. Our signature fundraising event, the Barbados Charity Ball, has been held in Toronto since 2004. Patrons of this gala Black Tie affair are treated to an evening of genuine Bajan hospitality and enjoy a four-course dinner complete with Bajan culinary experience and entertainment by Barbadian artistes. Over 500 people support this significant fundraising event each year and the Ball has now become one of the premiere social events in Toronto.

This Barbadian band has shared the stage with some of the worldโ€™s most celebrated and talented stars: Angie Stone, Damian Marley, Erykah Badu and Sizzla to name a few. Formerly called NexCyx, a name they dropped in early 2016, theyโ€™ve also racked up awards and accolades at home in Barbados, and internationally from MTV, Moรซt Hennessy Louis Vuitton and RyanSeacrest.com. But this is only part of their story.โฃ

Bandmates since college, Mahalia (lead vocalist), Russell (guitarist), Kris (bassist) and Chadd (drummer), have mastered a formula for rotation-worthy records that have made them a household name in Barbados, and created opportunities for them around the globe ๐ŸŒŽโฃ

From traveling to France where they co-headlined a concert with Wyclef Jean, to New York City where they were the featured act in the exclusive Billboard Lounge, the band has established themselves as one of the most sought-after Barbadian acts for regional and international music promoters.โฃ
โฃ
Their ability to fuse Caribbean vibes with an urban pop sound gives their music an infectious energy that is always guaranteed to be a staple on local radio and rock audiences around the world. In addition to making music, the band is also the founder of the islandโ€™s biggest acoustic music festival, Mahaliaโ€™s Corner.โฃ
