KESHORN WALCOTT THROWS SEASON-BEST 83.99M TO FINISH THIRD IN DIAMOND LEAGUE FINAL

Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott produced his best throw of the 2026 season to secure third place in the men’s javelin at the Diamond League Final in Brussels.

Walcott launched the spear 83.99 metres, improving on his previous season best of 83.71m and putting himself on the podium at the prestigious season-ending championship.

Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won the competition with a massive 89.04m, while Poland’s Dawid Wegner finished second after setting a personal best of 87.47m.

Walcott’s 83.99m was also enough to narrowly beat fellow Caribbean star Anderson Peters of Grenada, who finished fourth with 83.70m.

For the 2012 Olympic champion, the performance provided a strong finish to his Diamond League campaign against one of the strongest javelin fields assembled this season.

The result is significant because Walcott saved his best mark of 2026 for the biggest Diamond League competition of the year.

Brussels also produced several impressive Caribbean performances, including Jamaican Rajindra Campbell winning the men’s shot put with a national-record 23.08m and Tina Clayton capturing the women’s 100m in 10.93 seconds.

For Trinidad and Tobago, however, the standout was Walcott once again showing that more than a decade after his Olympic breakthrough, he remains capable of competing for podium places against the world’s best.
