As an older person receiving government-funded aged care - you have rights. The Statement of Rights, which is included in the Act, gives you the right to speak up, to be treated with respect, and to make choices about your aged care. Providers and aged care workers are legally obliged to deliver services in line with these rights.

OPAN has created a checklist of practical considerations and questions to ask throughout your experience with residential aged care.

🚨 New Report: Older Canadians and Virtual Care

Older Canadians are embracing virtual care, and the data challenges outdated assumptions about technology use and ageing.

A new report from the NIA shows that 51% of Canadians aged 50+ have used virtual care at least once. Usage continues to rise with age, with highest usage rates reported among those aged 80 and older.

These findings highlight a clear shift: older adults are not only willing to use digital health tools, they are already integrating them into their care.
