Healing Through Art- Monthly Open Mic Session
In most African cultures, oral tradition is more than just stories - it's a cherished cultural cornerstone. With the passing of each elder, it's like losing a precious library of wisdom. Afro Newcomers Organization is delighted to present "Healing Through Art" - a monthly open mic session celebrating the power of oral tradition. Let your words weave magic as we celebrate the power of storytelling because every story matters.
Through our "Healing Through Art" open mic sessions, we're keeping those stories alive with key objectives in mind:
- Build bridges: Connect with fellow newcomers and forge meaningful relationships.
- Share & heal: Embrace the beauty of sharing stories for integration and healing.
- Safe space: Dive into discussions about the immigrant journey in a supportive environment.
This event is free and open to all! Whether you're eager to share your literary work (poems, short stories, spoken word etc.), your own story, listen to others', or simply bask in the atmosphere, you're warmly welcome. You can present your work in any language you want: in English or any African language.
Let's unite and cultivate a stronger community together
