J! Join the public library. Libraries offer a wide variety of resources and activities for the whole family. Check out books and activities to promote literacy or stop in to learn about gardening from your local librarian. The library has in-person and online activities that can spark curiosity and creativity in your child's life and can help foster a love for learning and reading.

I! Include the idea of reading as an activity with a purpose. Kids love to be involved and this is a great way to incorporate literacy skills into your day-to-day. Invite your child to help make the shopping list and match the names of the products to their writing on the paper. They can help bake and read directions along the way. Kids can also get involved in planning a vacation or researching about a new pet.

H! Have your child's eyesight and hearing tested regularly. Sometimes the reason our kids are having a hard time reading, writing, or speaking might be due to an eye or ear problem. If you suspect there may be a problem you can speak to their doctor, optometrist, or Otolaryngologist to have it checked out. Being proactive is vital to their health and learning.

G! Get pictures of your child reading and put them up. Allowing them to see themselves as readers can help build confidence and be a source of pride for a child. You can even make it extra special and have a reading photo shoot. Dress up as a favourite character and pose with their book or take books to a cool spot and take some pictures there.
