AFM Statement on the Passing of Dolly Parton: “Before she was an icon, Dolly was a working musician,” says Tino Gagliardi, AFM - American Federation of Musicians International President. “Dolly never forgot the musicians who helped bring her music to life. By standing firm for solidarity and treating every player with dignity, she elevated our entire profession.”

“Throughout her 58 years as a proud member in good standing of Local 257, Nashville Musicians Association, she set the gold standard for supporting her band and fellow musicians. Dolly and her team consistently filed AFM union contracts for gigs, sessions, and tours, ensuring that the bands, singers, and studio musicians working alongside her received the benefits of union membership,” says Dave Pomeroy, President Local 257.

The British Columbia provincial government has declared a province-wide state of emergency due to severe wildfires impacting communities across the region.

To assist affected members during this crisis, the AFM - American Federation of Musicians Emergency Relief Fund is available to help provide financial support. You can access the assistance application and learn more by visiting www.afm.org/emergency-assistance.

SCAM ALERT!
Folk Canada found several social media profiles impersonating them. These fake accounts are selling conference registrations and booth space that don't exist. Don't send them money, and don't share your payment or personal information with them.

How to spot the fakes:
Their real profile has a long history of posts and updates, thousands of them, and over 5,000 followers. If an account claiming to be Folk Canada looks new, has few posts, or has a small following, it isn't them.

The only place to register:
Registrations are only sold through www.folkcanada.com. They would never ask you to register or pay through direct message, a third-party link, or any other website.

Every Folk Canada staff member and contractor uses an email address ending in .com.
