Maat’s Quill

Maat’s Quill Ma'at is the ancient Egyptian personification of truth, balance, harmony, morality, and justice. The Quill is a play on her feather of truth.

The Feed-The-Homeless fundraiser has had three successful campaigns and has now become an annual charity event. This is a service where all the raised money is put into Tim-Horton gift cards and given out to the homeless/needy of Toronto. Rather than handing out sandwiches, this way, the receivers have the freedom to choose what THEY want to eat/drink, when THEY want it. The idea is that by giving away these gift cards, the receivers feel like they are receiving gifts, rather than charity. It's just like giving your friend a gift card. The goals of this fundraiser are modest. We are not setting out to abolish hunger, or change the lives of those who are homeless. No, this is simply an opportunity to be kind, and to make someone's day, a little better. We need YOUR help to make this happen! Any little bit helps.

I am an ocean 🌊 I wrote this poem 3 years ago and haven’t felt ready to share it until now. I hope this metaphor helps anyone struggling with anxiety. This is dedicated to my therapist who taught me the metaphor and changed my life for the better.
