Youth Engagement (YE) guides high school students to pursue local and international development issues through leadership, problem-solving, and innovative thinking. The Social Change & Youth Leadership Challenge (SCYLC) is an annual youth conference hosted by the University of Toronto. Its aim is to bring together young leaders across high schools in Ontario and to engage and challenge them to thi
nk critically and discuss the complexity of social change and the impact they, as young leaders, can have on the world. Together, delegates will explore โ through challenging workshops, interactive sessions and distinguished speakers โ some of the most pressing issues surrounding social change today. In addition, students will get a chance to further develop their leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking skills, beyond what is usually explored in their school communities. Students will be challenged to step out of their comfort zones to explore new and different perspectives. Ultimately, students will be able to apply what they have gained from the conference to their schools and communities, creating change in the issues they are most passionate about
