The Pride of Parkdale Parkette Lansdowne-Rideau Black Locusts are now in full bloom!
Back in 1996, the City of Toronto planted a row of Black Locust trees along the east side of Lansdowne Avenue between Shirley Street and 222 Lansdowne Avenue (the No Frills Parking Lot).
The Black Lovust trees have a particularly spectacular bloom this year and are peaking this weekend. They are both beautiful and fragrant! A few photos are attached.
If you are out and about this weekend, or visiting the Dundas West Festival, consider checking these trees out too. They're on the east side of Lansdowne, just south of Dundas Street West.
I am hopefully the rest of the parkette will be revitalized, including removal of the litter, pruning of long weeds and suckers, and reintroduction of the built-in flower planters to active use. :) (The latter could be a great place to have community adopt-a-planters...).
