I know why we do it. This year, we lost approximately 85 % of our crop to a late frost (read: not much to share).
We were devastated.
Then this weekend, me and manny got invited to a Friendsgiving dinner. This was a table of folks whom we love & each of them are folks labeled different. Artsy. On the edge of normal. (including US!)
We brought other stuff to the dinner...& plus sprinkled our entire harvest of Taz cucamelons into our salad (read: 10 cucamelons, each the size of a lima bean - cucamelon - look 'em up).
Eating those wee tart tangy fruits, questions were asked.
Crunches were crunched.
People giggled.
In the flow of affection between friends, community swirled even brighter.
I raised a toast: to TAZ GROUT, whose brilliance is always with us, even on a scarce harvest year.
Another year of Taz Grout's Hot Dirt.
Another SUCCESS.
We LOVE YOU TAZ & PAM!
*wish I had a pic!
