🥵 Toronto, the heat is no joke.

With summer in full swing and extreme temperatures affecting our city, your health can be at risk faster than you think. Here are a few simple ways to stay safe:

💧 Drink water regularly - don't wait until you're thirsty.
🌳 Stay in the shade or air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-coloured clothing.
⏰ Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.).
👴👶 Check in on older adults, young children, and anyone who may be vulnerable to the heat.
🚑 Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, headache, nausea, heavy sweating, weakness, or confusion. If symptoms worsen or someone loses consciousness, call 911 immediately.

Remember: Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly, but they're also preventable.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Look out for one another. ❤️

Toronto’s Paramedics protect the health, safety, and well-being of residents and visitors across Toronto, serving with professionalism, compassion, and care during life’s most difficult moments.

Thank you Mayor Olivia Chow and the City of Toronto for this meaningful proclamation of Paramedic Services Week May 17, through May 23, 2026.

This recognition reflects the dedication of every frontline paramedic who answers the call, 24/7, to help keep our communities safe and healthy.

Thank you for your support of Toronto’s paramedics and the essential services we proudly provide residents each and every day.

What started as a push for better paramedic staffing is now turning into real progress well into 2026.

Toronto Paramedic Services committed to hiring 362 additional paramedics - and as that rollout continues, we’re seeing stronger front-line support and reduced strain on crews.

A step forward that’s still making an impact today.

On behalf of the Local 416 Paramedics team, we wish you all a safe and happy Easter! 🐰🚑

Toronto’s emergency workers show up every day — on the streets, in our neighbourhoods, and at our city’s most critical moments.

Mayor Olivia Chow understands that emergency services aren’t a “nice‑to‑have”. They’re the foundation of a safe and thriving city.

Local 416 welcomes her commitment to a fairer funding model and her support for the workers who keep running.

Police, Fire, and Paramedics. This is what a united front looks like.

❄️ After a major snowfall, safety doesn’t stop when the plows do.

Local 416 Medics remind everyone to take extra care in the days following a storm. Slippery sidewalks, icy driveways, and snow-covered roads can quickly turn routine tasks into emergencies.

Please take your time, wear proper footwear, clear walkways when you can, and check in on neighbours - especially seniors and those with mobility challenges. And remember, pets feel the cold too - never leave your dog outside in extreme winter conditions.

A little caution goes a long way in keeping everyone safe. Stay warm, stay safe, Toronto!
